Hi DEACONRAP, thanks for joining us today. Do you have an agent or someone (or a team) that helps you secure opportunities and compensation for your creative work? How did you meet you, why did you decide to work with them, why do you think they decided to work with you?
I do, Since my last time appearing in the online magazine, i have acquired representation with AEU Talent Bookings. They have been following me since 2023 and i finally reached out to them seeking representation and after a few emails. they concluded that i would be a good fit for them. I chose them because of AEU resembling AEW the wrestling company. Because of the owner also being a wrestling fan, we spent more time making WWE references than actual business talk. Which let me know that i am signed with a company that understands me as a person as well as an artist.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a nerdy/otaku rapper which means i make music about nerdy things like power rangers and anime. I’m a 7th generation guitar player and come from a. long line of country music and rock band music players but i’m the first and still the only rapper in the family. Ever since i was 10, i wanted to be a famous rapper like Eminem and the goal has not changed. Ice cube said, “hip-hop is a reflection of your reality”. Though my reality does not match the typical reality of a rapper, I’m still determined to climb to the top without changing my own story.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish i had known how easy it wad to record music. I wish that instead of asking my dad for video games and other kid stuff. I had asked him for recording equipment.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Don’t believe the hype of overnight success. Unless you’re willing to do all that you can without expecting to get paid for the first 5 years, this is not the career path for you.
