We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kayla Vannortwick. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kayla below.
Alright, Kayla thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
The greatest thing we’ve ever done to show our appreciation for a customer has been creating and giving our Client Care Program to those walking through life-altering seasons. Through this program, we provide two months of biweekly cleaning services completely free, because in moments of hardship, what people need most isn’t perfection…..it’s time, relief, and support. Being able to step in, care for their home, and give them space to focus on healing, family, or simply getting through the day is the most powerful way we know how to say we see you, we value you, and you matter to us!
What makes it so meaningful is that we pour our hearts into every detail! Laundry folded, dishes washed, beds made, and even a few extra moments spent loving on their pets, because we understand that life doesn’t stop. The small, thoughtful touches become something bigger: a sense of calm, dignity, and hope restored inside their space.
Seeing the emotion on a client’s face when they walk into a peaceful, cared-for home during one of the hardest chapters of their life is something I’ll never forget. In those moments, you can feel what it meant to them, they feel supported, seen, and lifted. That’s why this stands out as the best thing we’ve ever done. It’s more than cleaning. It’s showing appreciation through action, compassion, and presence. It’s our way of truly living out what we believe: transforming lives by elevating spaces.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Missus has been proudly operating for three years now, but its roots go much deeper than that. The inspiration came during one of the hardest seasons of my life, when my mother-in-law stepped in to care for our home. The feeling she gave me, relief, peace, and the ability to breathe when life felt heavy stayed with me. That experience, combined with a lifetime of cleaning for family members and my professional background as a property manager where I witnessed firsthand the growing demand for reliable, high-quality cleaning services, sparked something bigger. I realized cleaning wasn’t just a task people needed help with, it was a form of support people truly needed. From that realization, Missus was born.
Today, Missus is a professional cleaning company serving residential homes, commercial spaces, vacation properties, and specialty cleaning needs. What sets us apart is our luxury touches, personal approach, creative detail, and above-and-beyond mentality. Every service is intentionally tailored to each client, because no two homes, businesses, or lifestyles are the same. We also use all-natural, toxin-free products, prioritizing the well-being of our clients, their families, their pets, and our staff. Creating a safe, healthy environment is just as important to us as creating a spotless one.
At the heart of what we do is solving a problem most people struggle with but rarely talk about enough…..time. For working individuals and families, time is the most valuable resource, and often the most limited. We transform spaces so our clients can reclaim theirs. Walking into a clean, elevated space doesn’t just change how a home looks, it changes how it feels. It creates clarity, calm, and room to breathe. While we design and execute a thoughtful, customized cleaning plan, our clients are free to focus on what matters most to them.
What I’m most proud of is that Missus isn’t just a service….it’s a feeling. It’s the same feeling that inspired its creation: being cared for, supported, and uplifted in your own space. That’s what I want people to know about our brand. We don’t just clean spaces, we help restore peace, give people their time back, and remind them they don’t have to carry everything alone.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I’ll be the first to say I’m no social media expert, but what I am is someone who genuinely loves what I do, and I think that’s where it all began. When you truly love your work, showing up to share it doesn’t feel forced, it feels natural. I built my audience simply by being consistent, staying focused, and prioritizing real connection over perfection. I didn’t start with a strategy; I started with a heart rooted in passion for what we do and the people we serve. I also make it a priority to engage with others, respond, support, and build genuine relationships, because social media is meant to be social. It’s not just about posting, it’s about connecting.
My biggest advice for anyone just starting is this: educate yourself, even if it’s one small thing at a time. Learn a tip, try a new feature, study what inspires you, and keep going. You don’t have to master everything overnight, just stay curious and committed. And most importantly, remember it’s yours. Your voice, your story, your brand. No one can share it the way you can.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
One of my favorite marketing moments and honestly one of the most emotional milestones in my journey was the first big leap I took outside of organic growth. For over a year, I had built everything from the ground up myself, including coding our entire website on my own. It took weeks of late nights and determination, and while I was proud of it, I knew deep down that if I wanted Missus to grow to the level I envisioned, I needed to take a real risk and invest in something bigger than I could do alone.
That’s when I partnered with Townsquare Interactive. Up until then, all of our marketing had lived primarily on Facebook through organic reach, word of mouth, and consistency. Walking into their office for the first time felt surreal. I remember looking around, seeing the radio station spaces, the production rooms, the energy of it all, and realizing I was stepping into a completely different level of business than I had ever experienced before. It was not just a meeting. It was a moment where things started to feel real.
When I officially signed on, they built and now maintain our professional website and lead management platform. What truly gave me chills was hearing that our business would be broadcast across five radio stations. I can still remember the exact feeling when I heard our name on the radio for the first time. It was one of those full circle moments where every risk, every doubt, every long night, and every ounce of belief I had poured into my company suddenly felt validated. It was like the universe saying keep going, you were right to believe in this.
That experience was not just about marketing. It was about stepping out of my comfort zone, investing in my vision, and trusting that growth requires courage. In that moment, I did not just feel excited. I felt proud, inspired, and more motivated than ever to keep building. It was the moment I realized this was not just a dream anymore. This was the real deal.
