Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Majorie Dorismond. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Majorie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
An Elderly Lady gave me the greatest advice.
I remember that day like it was yesterday. It was May 2018, my first day out Promoting and Selling My #SpeakFreely Brand shirts and hats.
I was on Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia. I walked in a beautiful hair salon shop wearing my regular clothes. I was carrying a box with shirts and hats from my personal brand. I walked in bold and confident, well at least I thought I was until this elderly lady approached me and asked, how are you trying to promote and sell something to us that you’re not even wearing it yourself. That humbled me very quickly. This was new to me. The lady to me, (if you have to take one shirt and one hat and wear it everyday til you can afford more to change up. I want to to wear your brand every time you come out. Cause how you gone convince people to wear something the CEO ain’t wearing.) From that day forward, eight years later I make sure I’m always rocking my brand when I’m out Hustling. I’m so grateful for her. She made a big impact on me that I will continue to carry with me through my business. I believe she gave me that advice because she saw my potential. I have much respect for her.

Majorie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hey Everyone, It’s Maj D. I’m back again. Oh how I love when I get a email asking would I love to be featured again, and. Again.
Of course. Is that even a question. Anyways let’s get into it.
For the ones who don’t know me. I am Majorie Dorismond A.K.A Maj D. CEO of #SpeakFreely the Brand. My Clothing brand is actually named after my second book “#SpeakFreely”. I wrote that book and self published it April 2018 after I got out of Jail. Being incarcerated helped me write this book. It has Poetry and Motivational and Inspirational Quotes.
After a couple of weeks of my 2nd book being released something clicked in my mind and told me to start my clothing brand and name it after my second book “#SpeakFreely the Brand”. Something different, something unique.
Furthermore, starting a business isn’t an easy task. Honestly, it’s very freaking hard. First, you’re going off a dream that you’re trying to bring into reality. Second, you’re starting with no support. So you trust God and keep pushing..
I’m so Grateful I took that leap of faith and started “My Brand”.
Please go after everything your heart desires. Don’t be afraid that it won’t work out. Go out and try your best and accept advice from strangers to help you Elope..

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Honestly building an audience on Social Media won’t be easy. Only because you start off with nobody believing in what you’re doing. But consistency is the Key. Keep posting, keep promoting even when you’re not being seen or valued or liked. You have to trust that everything will fall into place.
Please don’t give up just because you not seeing that your social media not growing at a fast pace. Give it time and give yourself Grace for getting out here and believing that you can do anything you put your mind and heart into.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Most effective strategy growing my Clientele is just showing up and showing out. When you show up even when you don’t feel like nothings going to happen is when God steps in and show you why you’re doing what you’re doing.
Please don’t be afraid to start a New journey, new business or New Life… You won’t be starting from scratch, you’ll be starting from Experience.
