We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Channin Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Channin , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
The most daring risk I did take was leaving a 9 to 5 job to pursue my passion in graphic design and creative services. I didn’t think I would be able to do it but I wouldn’t change they way I did or when I did it. I love what I do and can’t imagine doing anything else.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m an easygoing and creative person, which is exactly why I love what I do. I truly enjoy working with individuals and businesses to bring their ideas to life. There’s nothing more rewarding than listening closely to what someone envisions and then seeing their reaction when it turns into something they love.
I create logos and custom designs for all kinds of occasions, and what sets me apart is my creativity along with my commitment to really understanding what each customer wants. I believe great design starts with great listening.
One of the things I’m most proud of is what I’ve learned through being a business owner and the pride I take in every detail of my work. I can be a bit of a perfectionist but when it comes to customized pieces, I think that attention to detail is exactly what helps ensure every item is created just the way it’s meant to be.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I truly believe great design starts with great listening and that’s been a huge part of building my reputation. I take pride in every little detail, because the small things are what turn something good into something unforgettable. And when I give my word, I do my best to stand by it because to me, my word is my bond.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
One of the absolute best sources of new clients has been good old-fashioned word of mouth! While social media, email, and guerrilla marketing have all played a great role in growing the business, nothing has topped people sharing their experience and spreading the word.
