We were lucky to catch up with Dina Husseini recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dina, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
REELM Studios didn’t begin as a strategic plan. It began as a quiet frustration.
I was working closely with authors, deep in their drafts, their rewrites, their messy middle chapters. When you sit that close to someone’s work, you understand how personal it is. A book isn’t a product. It’s years of someone’s life, distilled onto a page. And I kept noticing something. When a story moved toward film, it often changed in ways that felt unnecessary. It got louder. Bigger. More marketable. But sometimes the very thing that made it matter: the voice would fade.
I remember thinking: Why does adaptation have to mean compromise?
Around that time, I was in my own transition. I had already left the corporate world and built a life around editing and coaching. REELM grew out of my respect for authors and my belief that film can expand a story without rewriting its heart. Not from spreadsheets, but from care.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Dina Husseini, a book coach and editor, and the founder of REELM Studios. I began my career in psychology and corporate consulting, coaching teams, leading training programs, and editing a leadership magazine. Over time, I transitioned fully into the literary world.
At REELM, we help authors bring their books to life on screen through book coaching, developmental editing, script advising, creative direction, and cinematic features. Our goal is to ensure adaptations expand a story without compromising the author’s vision.
What sets REELM apart is our focus on creative stewardship, guiding projects with care and respect for the author’s work. I’m most proud of creating a space where authors feel supported and confident as their stories reach new audiences.
If there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s this: your voice is not negotiable.

Any advice for managing a team?
Even though REELM Studios is small, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. Our team includes creative partners and trusted collaborators, and keeping morale high comes down to respect, open communication, and making sure everyone shares the same vision.
We take the time to really listen, honor people’s expertise, and make sure everyone feels seen and valued throughout the creative process. We celebrate milestones, give thoughtful feedback, and keep the focus on the story we are bringing to life. Doing this keeps everyone motivated, inspired, and excited to create together.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
We believe keeping in touch with clients is about more than just updates. It’s about building a real, ongoing relationship. From the very first conversation, we stay connected through regular check-ins, feedback sessions, and progress updates to make sure authors always feel heard and supported.
We also share insights, celebrate milestones, and offer guidance throughout the creative process so clients know we are invested in their story every step of the way. Being consistent, transparent, and attentive helps foster trust and loyalty and gives clients confidence that their stories are in capable hands.
