We recently connected with Keisha Forsman and have shared our conversation below.
Keisha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I struggled my entire life to find the right bra and then I found Molly Hopkins and LiviRae Lingerie in mid 2024. I saw Molly on TV and when I saw her shop I googled it and found the most fascinating woman. I binge watched both seasons of Double Divas and was on a mission to have Molly tell me what size my breasts were. I contacted Molly on Instagram and she messaged back and offered me a virtual fitting. When that woman came on my zoom call with me standing in my kitchen completely topless and exposed and she said, “You’ve got nice boobies,” I believed her and for the first time in my life I felt confident with my breasts. That confidence grew and I continued to develop my relationship with Molly to get her to Minnesota for a couple of pop up events with LiviRae Lingerie. However, it wasn’t enough. I wanted to help more women find the right bra for their body. After my second pop up that Molly came to, I told her I wanted to open my own shop. I told her I don’t have much, but if you’ll train me all things bra fitting and help me, I know I can do this and that’s when Sweet & Sassy Lingerie was born! I’m now able to offer the gift of lift to the Midwest!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Sweet & Sassy Lingerie is the sister store of LiviRae Lingerie. I offer bra fittings, and I carry bras from the best bra companies, in sizes 30A-46J, and all sizes in between. If I don’t have your size, I contact LiviRae and between both shops we can get anyone fit! I also have an assortment of pajamas, lingerie, shape-wear, panties, and bra accessories in sizes xs-4x. I want every person that walks into the shop to leave feeling confident in the skin they’re in and that starts with a good bra.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
The first half of my life was retail. I started in the intimates department of a large retail chain store. It’s also where I met my husband. However, my parents wanted me to have a fancy corporate job. At 20, I started school to become a paralegal. I continued to work retail off and on until I graduated and landed my first corporate job. I spent almost 20 years in the legal field at various law firms and companies until finding my niche in patent law. However, in 2018, I lost my husband and it sent me on a 7 year journey to find myself and my true passion, helping people. I worked a full time, 40 hour a week job, as a contract patent paralegal, full time mom to two incredible daughters and spent all my free time figuring out how to open my own shop. I brought Molly to MN for two, two-day, pop up bra fitting events and did two other virtual events, fitting women via FaceTime calls with Molly and her amazing daughter Olivia. I went all over my surrounding area to find women to come to my events, because I knew it would change their lives. Once I found Molly there was never a question of what I wanted to do it, was just how I was going to get there.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My entire life has been a giant pivot. It just took me until 40 to realize those pivots were pushing me down the path I was meant to be on. I was never meant to sit behind a desk and make other people rich from my work. I was meant to help people and if I’m able to support myself doing so, then I’ve become successful. Life is about doing what makes us happy, but not at the expense of someone else. I was never really happy in the career I chose, because most people don’t know what they want to do at 20, but people say do something. Well at 40 I’m finally living my dream!
