We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tamzum Morris a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Tamzum, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

My story started out as wanting to help those that suffered from skin conditions such as Eczema, Psoriasis and More. But as I’ve been growing in my business, I’ve found that it takes healing on the inside to reflect on the outside. Self Care is something we fail to do from time to time. And now it’s my mission to make people Glo inside, just as well as outside. Self Care plays a part on building Self Esteem, and I want to help those get back on a path of loving themselves.

Tamzum, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Tamzum Morris. I was born in Dallas TX, but lived in many places in my life due to my parents being in the military. Which I feel gave me the opportunity to learn and understand many facets of life. I created Goddess Glo 11.11 LLC right at the heart of Covid. I came about this business researching different types of oils, butters, and plants that would help my daughter with her Eczema. So it started as a way to help my daughter, that came into play of wanting to help others with their skin care. I started with creating Body Butters, Body Oils, Bath Soaks, Body Balms, and Body Scrubs. Formulating my products with deep impacting ingredients and minimal fragrance to avoid skin irritation. After a year of being in business I decided to make Candles to go along with these products as a way to start a Self Care Routine.
As time has progressed with of course always reading and researching, I had to find a way to encompass the Goddess that resides in all of us. So I’ve started creating my line of Goddess Candles, which is a representation of a particular Goddess in each Candle. These are scented Candles that are beautifully decorated with Crystals, Charms, and other decor to bring forth the energy of that candle. Now is a time more than ever to getting back to loving yourself and just taking time for yourself in which alot of us have neglected.
With my products, I’ve had customers say how a simple Bath Soak helped them relax and feel rejuvenated. Or how their skin cleared up with the use of my different Skin Products. My favorite are those that use the candles for meditation to find their peace and center.
I’m proud of my entire collection, because I feel that I can reach almost everyone to bring them joy. And I want customers to understand that anyone can create these items. But it’s the love and energy I put forth into them. I want customers to feel a true self of being, or smile and feel good about themselves as they’re using my products.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

The lesson that I had to learn and unlearn is, that you can’t please everyone. Yes, essentially as a Small Business Owner that’s your goal. To have something for everyone. When I reality, it doesn’t work like that. You take hints and suggestions and you say to yourself I can make this product or create this fragrance for you. But ultimately you loose more than you gain, because it might just be one or two people that will buy that particular suggestion. So now you have to find a creative way to sell the item to avoid it going in the trash.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I think what helps me build my reputation is the knowledge I give to my customers. The breakdown of what ingredients I use that will help their skin. Pinpointing exactly what a customer is looking for if it’s skin care or a candle. Sometimes people need a listening ear to vent, and I’ve had that happen many times that they will say “Why am I telling you this.” It’s a comfort and an experience I want them to have when they meet me, see my products, experience my products (samples provided). Being a Goddess is an experience and almost enlightening at the same time.
