We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vanessa Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Vanessa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

The story behind my mission would be alleviating any stress that I can with your pets I think we as humans deal with a lot of stress day today whether it be with jobs or school or just day-to-day life and I think that what’s important to me is being able to at least alleviate stress about your pets while you’re away. I know for me personally I would have a little anxiety leaving my pets with someone And I think it’s very meaningful to me to be able to minimize stress and allow people to enjoy their vacation well not worrying about their pets

Vanessa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

So a little about me I was born and raised in the Orlando Florida area! I moved to Virginia and starting working in the medical field pretty and that’s how my pet sitting career started I started doing it on the side for coworkers because they knew I loved animals ans they could trust me! Then it became like wild fire to where so many other of my coworkers were asking me to watch their pets! Then after a while I moved back down to Orlando and I started back up my pet sitting business and I started advertising I really started focusing on growing and building my business and I think it has taken off tremendously and I am so grateful for it!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

So I feel like social media is one of my favorite aspects of growing my business I love the Internet being used as a tool to reach out to many people in my community. I built my audience using social media by just doing one thing and that one thing is posting consistently the more that you post in the more that you post on different platforms whether it be Facebook Instagram tiktok the more people you will reach and I think that has helped my business significantly! I would say I’ve met probably over 75% of my clients from the Internet or from social media! I think the Internet and social media is such a great tool and it can really help you take off with your business!

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

I initially was funding my business by working another full-time job and pet sitting on the side. I knew that I wanted to pet sit full-time so I worked two jobs working at a hospital and also pet sitting on the side and I used my paycheck I made from my full-time job to be able to fund things with my business like making T-shirts paying for advertising etc!
