We recently connected with Andrew Bullard and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrew, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I started to get into film through my love of music. I’ve been making Christian Hip Hop since 2008, but in 2018 I was challenged by my cousin on why I had never gotten into Christian Film. I came up with the idea to do a short film that went hand in hand with a soundtrack. I started to think of actors I knew, locations I could use, and a story that was real to me. In 2018 I started to work on the soundtrack and it really influenced a lot of the scenes that ended up in the film. We shot the project in the fall of 2019 and in the summer of 2020, Ain’t God Alright was released. There was so much that went into the project that I was not aware of when it came to casting, post-production, and distribution. But, the response to the film was great. We received a lot of accolades and I was selected into festivals like The International Christian Film Festival. So I decided to continue on the journey as a filmmaker.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Andrew J. Bullard IV, a Chattanooga-based independent filmmaker, hip hop artist, and entrepreneur. I create Christian entertainment that’s rooted in real life—stories and music that don’t shy away from relationships, trauma, doubt, or personal growth, but instead meet people where they are and point them toward hope.
My journey into film and music didn’t follow a traditional path. I became a Christian Hip Hop artist through becoming a junior deacon at my father’s church and I started making films through my love of music. But I saw a gap between much of today’s faith-based content and the real-world experiences people are navigating daily. That gap inspired me to tell stories that feel honest, culturally aware, and emotionally grounded while still being faith-centered.
My most recent feature film, The Solution, was developed and produced independently and is currently streaming on Tubi, Prime Video & Apple TV. The film blends humor, heart, and spiritual depth, reflecting my belief that Christian storytelling can be authentic without being preachy. It’s also my most personal project to date and based on my relationship with my father.
What sets my work apart is my commitment to creating faith-based content that feels relatable and human. Whether through film or music, my goal is to create work that sparks conversation, encourages reflection, and reminds people that healing and purpose are possible—even in the middle of life’s challenges.
As a Chattanooga creative, I’m proud to contribute stories that reflect both my faith and my community, while reaching audiences far beyond the city.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Filmmaking comes with a lot of curveballs you never see coming, and it’s really forced me to grow as a leader. On my last project, we had to let go of an actor in a lead role due to creative differences—only about a month and a half before production. That was a tough moment. I had to reassure my team that we’d be okay, even though internally I was nervous myself. I leaned into my faith and trusted that God would lead us to the right person. And He absolutely did. Derrick Dee stepped into the role of Oscar and completely crushed it. Looking back now, I truly can’t imagine anyone else playing the role of my father in The Solution.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my wife, Destiny, during post-production on my first film, Ain’t God Alright. She jumped in and helped in ways I didn’t even expect—especially during post-production—showing me smarter, more cost-effective ways to create promotional materials. Not long after that, I proposed shortly before the premiere of our first feature, Access Control. We’ve now been married for two and a half years. She truly elevates everything I do and has been incredibly supportive of my creative journey every step of the way.
