We recently connected with Vahagn Stepanyan and have shared our conversation below.
Vahagn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful work I’m involved in right now centers around arranging my third album, producing some film soundtracks and managing drummer Eric Moore. Film scoring allows me to shape emotion and narrative through music, which I find deeply fulfilling. At the same time, managing Eric is a role I take very seriously supporting a world-class artist while building meaningful creative and professional opportunities together. This work represents a deeper sense of purpose in my career.

Vahagn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a music producer, composer, and keyboardist working across music production, film soundtracks, and my career as an artist.
I got into this field through a deep love for music and storytelling, and that passion gradually turned into a career focused on emotional impact rather than trends.
Much of my work today centers on creating music that supports emotion and narrative, whether for film or my own artistic projects.
What sets me apart is my attention to the bigger picture. I care deeply about quality and intention, and about making sure every project feels honest and connected. I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built and the consistency of my values throughout my career.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that doing more always means doing better. Early on, I said yes to many. Over time, I realized that focus, boundaries, and intention create far stronger work. Learning to say no was just as important as learning to create.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The main mission driving my creative journey is honesty.
I want my work to age well and still feel relevant years from now. For me, success isn’t about volume, it’s about creating something with purpose that people can return to and feel something from.
