We recently connected with E. Danielle Butler and have shared our conversation below.
E. Danielle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The more I work, the more I acknowledge the excitement that comes with shaping and sharing stories with specific missions. I am energized by people who do meaningful work and inspire action. I have made it my mission to help leaders develop their voice and leave a lasting legacy through the written and spoken word. Long after we are gone, our words will remain.

E. Danielle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am E. Danielle Butler, a ghostwriter, collaborative author, and children’s book author. I started writing copy and content in the background for arts and nonprofit organizations more than two decades ago. Since then I have found my place helping leaders shape and share their thoughts through the written word.
As a ghostwriter and collaborative author, I work with leaders to:
– Amplify their meaningful (and sometimes overlooked) stories
– Document their journeys to success
– Overcome their “I’m not a good writer” fears
– Reclaim their time while still feeling productive
– Preserve their legacies though writing
I love this work first and foremost because it allows me to be present for my family. I also love it because it is reciprocal in nature, the individuals that I work with are able to be present for their families as well. As I think about my work, I am grateful for the opportunity to support others in bringing clarity to their ideas. Whether for a large public launch or for private family vaults, I thrive on helping others leave their mark through the written and spoken word.
Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
I am a mom. When I look at my children’s faces, I am inspired to make the world a better place for them. My children’s books are based on them, allowing them to see themselves reflected in the literature they read. I assist other authors in creating books that are windows and mirrors in hopes that we are impacting the next generation for the better. I continue the creative journey to build something that will last long after I’m gone, whether through books I write or the next generations taking over the business. I desire for the next three to four generations (at minimum) to eat off of what I am building now. I am creating options for freedom, flexibility, and finances for myself and family. By pursuing my creative journey, I am extending the same options for other leaders. I write so that they have the freedom, flexibility, and finances to show up for their families as they desire.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I had the pleasure a few years ago to work with Black film and civil rights pioneer Jessie Maple on her second memoir. She shared with me how much of her creative work had been supported through grants. I wish that I’d known sooner that grants exist for independent creatives, not just larger nonprofits! I now keep a running list of projects that would be served well through grant support.
