Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Will Chitwood. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Will, thanks for joining us today. Along with taking care of clients, taking care of our team is one of the most important things we can do as leaders. Looking back on your journey, did you have a boss that was really great? Maybe you can tell us about that boss and what made them a wonderful person to work for?
I was fortunate to start off with a good friend of mine who invited me to come out to DJ with him when I was just 16. He was a great teacher and really helped me develop as DJ in my MC and crowd interaction techniques.

Will, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I founded Dancing DJ Productions back in 2001. It started off as a one-man show with me as the only DJ. Now I’ve developed it into one of San Diego’s leading DJ companies having done over 2300 events. We’ve have won 21 awards, are a preferred DJ at over 50 venues, and are the most reviewed DJ company in San Diego!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I think the biggest change I’ve had to make was when I moved from Colorado Springs to San Diego. Getting used to the new market took a little while, but over time it made me stronger and was a great learning experience.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My main focus since I started growing the business from just myself to the 19 DJs we have today was always focusing on providing high quality service. We’ve made training and making sure client feedback is excellent a top priority. That helped us get a large number of positive reviews which helped our company grow very fast!
