We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kashi Jayy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kashi, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learn everything about what I do now by listening to my peers around me. Knowing what I know now I would’ve took another route my; my way at least. My skill to be “coachable” is my most essential tool. I think “myself” was the biggest obstacle that stood in my way of learning more. I was in my head a lot and didn’t always follow my heart.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Kashi Johnson Jr aka Kashi Jayy or Kruegerr. I’m an Artist in every sense of the word. I got into my field of work by just being confident in myself to know that I can be just like Picasso, or a Nas and Jay, or make funny skits like Chappelle or druski. That’s why I’m here today all off my confidence in myself. I create whatever I’m feeling at that moment. I might be feeling musically one day and I might feel like bob ross another day. My creativity comes from my mood. I believe I’m just like everyone else in a sense but I think my spirit separates me from everyone else. My imagination and feeling when it comes to creating. My discipline for the game. I’m most proud; always, of my catalog. There’s a paper trail of everything I’ve ever done artistically from paintings to music to pictures/videos. The progression makes me go more harder every moment I get. My brand is for motivation. I always try to promote a go getter attitude. Positivity and honesty in my work. My paintings resemble bright colors, beautiful people and landscapes. Always showing a lighter side. With all combined I feel like you can gain a lot from supporting me.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is feeding from your own fruits. Seeing all your hard-work go unnoticed. I believe every time I get asked for a feature that means I’m doing it right. Every time I hit 10k views on a silly video I’m doing it right. Seeing people react to your paintings and want to get one of their own; I’m doing it right ! That’s the most rewarding aspect for me.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my following basically by just being ME. No overthinking it; a lil. But in the end it always works out in my favor. I have a couple different audiences as I do many things. Do what you love and there will always be people that love the same thing like you do. Have confidence and just post it. Whatever it is !
