Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Allison Asarch. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Allison, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I moved to Nashville in 2018, after I graduated from college in Ohio to pursue my life long dream of a music career. I didn’t know anyone, didn’t have a place to live, or a job. Luckily, I enjoy meeting new people, and networking was never a “chore” to me. I had one friend of a family friend contact that I met with in November 2018. I went to her house, sang a couple of my original songs, and she pointed me in the direction of friends she knew that would be better fit to help me. All of 2019 we co-wrote, recorded hump day cover videos to help me find my modern voice, and worked on building my brand. In September 2019, I saw an opportunity to apply for a karaoke game show. I didn’t have anything to lose, and had auditioned for The Voice and American Idol in the past, so I went in with low expectations. The producers loved me! Long story short, they flew us to London to film the show, spoiler alert, I ended up winning my episode and taking home more than $42,000. With my winnings I was able to afford creating my debut album, two music videos, single/album cover photo shoots, and press releases from 2020-2022. I was taking guitar lessons, and started to learn my original music to play in writers rounds around Nashville. When I released my debut album in February 2022, I had two album release shows and had a blast on stage! I knew that I wanted to continue to perform and I had that moment of realization that I was going to do everything in my power to make that happen. I started having meetings with my publicist to go over different steps towards possibly making a tour to spread the word about my album. From April 2022 to now August 2022, I have constantly been emailing venues around the country and asking if they might be interested in having me sing at their venue. So far I’ve reached out to over 50 locations, and left my full time job this past week to pursue my dream full time. This journey isn’t over yet, and I know over the years every risk I’ve taken has helped me get to the next spot on my journey. I’m so proud of myself as an independent artist and how far I’ve come since moving to Nashville in 2018.

Allison, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Growing up in Houston, Texas, I discovered my love for music at a young age. I would perform at my grandparents’ annual Christmas talent show, but it wasn’t until 4th grade that I knew music was going to be my career path. My music teacher, Ms. Teagarden, had everyone singing and smiling…including the boys! I loved the joy music brought me and everyone else. Raised on powerhouse vocalists like Tina Turner, Shania Twain and Freddie Mercury, I began cultivating my own unique sound while attending Otterbein University’s School of Music in Westerville, Ohio. It was there that I began teaching myself how to play the guitar, while also taking piano lessons during freshman and sophomore years. I was a member of choir, trained in classical opera and traveled to Ireland and Germany to perform. In 2018, I moved to Nashville, Tennessee to start chasing my dreams. When the Coronavirus pandemic hit in early 2020, I seized the opportunity to start recording and releasing my own music. Heavily influenced by Taylor Swift, I hoped to combine country, pop and jazz elements in my songs. In September 2020, I released my first single called Taylor Made. That same month, I appeared on the Netflix Original show “Sing On!” where I took first place and won over $42,000. I followed up with the releases of several subsequent singles, including Sippin’ on Somethin’, Summer Style, Cotton Dress, Neon Nobody and Midnight Daydream. In late 2021, I began performing Country music and classic Rock n’ Roll hits with my band on Broadway, Nashville’s legendary strip of honky-tonks. Her debut album entitled “Texas to Tennessee” was released on February 11, 2022 and is now available on all streaming platforms. In May 2022, I was nominated for “Rising Star” at the Josie Music Awards. The Awards will take place in October at the Grand Ole Opry and I can not wait! An advocate for female empowerment, I’m building my team around talented women. I know there are wonderfully accomplished women who play instruments, sing backup vocals, produce and create. I want to help shine a light on those women and organizations the best I can! I am planning my first fall tour for this upcoming fall 2022. As of right now, I will be playing in Georgia, Ohio, Florida, and Texas.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
My guitar teacher and mentor Mikey Meiers recommended many books for me to read and I am so glad that he did! The recent one I am reading is called “The Gap and the Gain” This book is about happiness and how to enjoy the present and be excited for the future. Many of us can dwell on the past or even be in the mindset that we are stuck. Not many people focus on the positives in life, and I think if more of us did our world be a much better place. This book is extrmely important to me at the moment because it might seem that I’m not The Gap And The Gain- by Dan Sullivan

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I love seeing someone hear my music for the first time and truly fall in love with it. I love to engage with the audience and make those connections with fans. When an audience has never heard of me before, it’s super important to me to make sure they understand my lyrics and are having a fun time. I want the whole experience with me on stage to make them feel welcome and give them the opportunity to have fun and be themselves. I love being about to bring out the best in people, and I think my stage presence and confidence on stage really helps get the crowd going!
