Justin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?

GOTHIC HEART TATTOO located in Mt.Vernon Ohio , with my wife Gwen.
I have been tattooing for a long time now and often think what it would be like to work any other job , after spending over a decade only tattooing as a full time job , I can’t imagine being happy doing anything else . I truly believe this is what I was meant to do , I enjoy working with people one on one ,I enjoy meeting new people and building friendships and having great conversations , I truly feel blessed for every single person who has ever trusted me to tattoo them

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I have always loved art! From my first memories all I can remember is wanting to draw and create art , I love painting , drawing , sculpting, really any type of art . I always dreamed of being able to create art for a living (even when it felt like a pipe dream).
I try to create art now as a tattoo artist that the client and I as the artist can both be excited about ! I want my clients to be as comfortable and happy as possible, I strive to become better everyday and not become stagnant or plateau, stick to my heart yet change with the times ! We either adapt or fall behind … I don’t believe anything between truly exists

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?

Fortunately I didn’t need to take out a loan to open my business , my wife and I did our best to save money ( even if it meant going without some things ) so we were lucky to have the money to start our business , and we were able to do alot of the manual labor ourselves so we were able to stretch the savings farther , we worked long hours and worked very hard ! But it was definitely worth it to be able to feel the pride of owning our own business

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

In my business I find the best source of new clientele is word of mouth ! I have been so blessed to have amazing clients that recommend me to friends , co-workers , loved ones and even strangers . It is an amazing feeling when someone comes in for a tattoo and says “ you come highly recommended “ from someone I have tattooed before !!
