We were lucky to catch up with Matthew Gosling recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Matthew thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned how to make and record music freshman year of high school. I had multiple computer classes and band so i learned about garageband really fast. knowing what i know not i could’ve actually went to school to gain more knowledge on the recording and mixing and mastering records. The most essential skill i feel that is needed is work ethic and drive. The only obstacle i say stood in my way was time. I have my hands in so many different pots its crazy but we do make time for things we feel are important.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hey everyone! My name is Matthew Gosling and i go by “MattyP”. I’m a recording artist out of South Florida. I’ve been freestyling and recording music since i was 15 but really got serious about music when i turned 26. I found a new love and passion for the craft so i wanted to see how far i could go with it. I’m an recording artist so i all really provide is different sounds to get you through the day and certain situations in life. I’m proud of myself really. Everyone told me i couldn’t do it and no one believed in me but i believed in myself. Every obstacle that was presented to me i made it work and not once gave in and gave up.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Not really a mission but i’m just having fun with it. My main goal is to have as much fun doing it as i can before i get tired of it or to old lol.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me the most rewarding aspect of being a musical artist is the positive love you get back from your fans. Nothing feels better than the interactions between fans and artist. thats really big for me.
