We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jacqueline Lynch a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jacqueline, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
From a very young age, I knew I was born to be a creative. Even though my Caribbean family encouraged me toward the medical field—because to them, it promised stability and guaranteed work—I always felt called to something different. Education was non-negotiable in my household, so I pushed through, earned my bachelor’s degree, and proved that I could take care of myself.
But securing that degree wasn’t the end of my journey—it was the beginning of my freedom. I made a promise to myself that once I fulfilled my family’s expectations, I would finally pursue my own dreams.
So I did.
I stepped into the world I always wanted: music. I became a singer and had the incredible opportunity to travel the world for three years as a backup vocalist for legendary reggae artist Beres Hammond. That experience opened doors I never imagined.
After music, my creativity evolved again. I became a Makeup Artist and spent 18 years working in TV and film, building a career that allowed me to express myself, support myself, and live a life that aligned with who I truly am.
My path wasn’t traditional—but it was mine. And choosing myself made all the difference.

Jacqueline, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who may not know me, my name is Jacqueline “M” Lynch—also known as MakeupByJakkiTV. I am a multi-disciplinary creative whose journey spans music, beauty, lifestyle, and digital storytelling. My path wasn’t traditional, but it has always been driven by passion, resilience, and a deep desire to create.
I stepped fully into my artistry and became a singer, eventually traveling the world for three years as a background vocalist for the legendary reggae artist Beres Hammond. Being on those stages, connecting with global audiences, and experiencing music at its highest professional level shaped me in ways I’ll never forget.
When my journey in music shifted, I tapped into another creative passion—makeup. I became a professional Makeup Artist and went on to work in TV and film for 18 years. That experience taught me discipline, precision, storytelling through beauty, and the power of transformation. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege to work with a broad range of clients—from everyday women to celebrities—helping them step into their confidence, their character, and their moment.
Today, my brand expands beyond makeup.
I create beauty, lifestyle, and wellness content on YouTube and social platforms, sharing my journey as a woman, mother, creative, and bariatric-surgery survivor. My content blends luxury, wellness, real-life experiences, honest conversations, and inspiration. I’m passionate about helping people feel beautiful from the inside out and showing them that reinvention is always possible.
The services and value I provide include:
• Professional makeup artistry (beauty, TV, film, special events)
• Lifestyle, beauty, and wellness content creation
• Authentic product reviews and brand collaborations
• Empowering storytelling rooted in lived experience

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is the freedom to express who I truly am and the ability to transform my life—and others’ lives—through that expression.
Creativity has always been my safe space, my voice, and my way of connecting with the world. Whether I was singing on international stages, doing makeup on a film set, or creating content on YouTube, the most fulfilling part has always been that moment when someone feels seen, inspired, or empowered because of something I created.
As a creative, I get to take my experiences—my culture, my struggles, my triumphs, my reinventions—and turn them into art. I get to show people that you can come from a strict, traditional background and still choose a path that lights up your soul. I get to help people feel beautiful, confident, and understood.
And most of all, I get to live a life that reflects who I am inside—not who others expected me to be. That’s the real reward. The ability to create on my own terms, impact others in authentic ways, and keep evolving creatively throughout every chapter of my life.

How did you build your audience on social media?
My audience didn’t grow overnight—it grew with me, chapter by chapter.
I built my social media presence by being consistent, authentic, and willing to evolve publicly. My journey started long before I ever posted a YouTube video or picked up a camera. I spent years in creative industries—touring the world as a singer, then building an 18-year career as a TV and film Makeup Artist. Those experiences shaped my voice, my confidence, and my understanding of people, and eventually I realized I wanted to share that with a larger audience.
When I started creating content, I wasn’t trying to be perfect—I was trying to be real. I talked about beauty, lifestyle, luxury, and eventually opened up about my bariatric surgery and wellness journey. Every time I shared something honest and personal, my audience connected more deeply. People followed me because they saw themselves in my story, my culture, my creativity, and my transparency.
I built my audience by:
• Showing up consistently, even when views were low
• Offering value—tips, tutorials, reviews, and inspiration
• Being honest about my life and my evolution
• Building community instead of chasing numbers
• Treating my platform like my own little show, where people feel welcomed and seen
My audience grew because I wasn’t trying to be anyone else. I was just being myself—Caribbean, creative, ambitious, evolving, and unafraid to reinvent my life.
