Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Viviana Garcia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Viviana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.

Since I could remember, I was always into the creative field. It wasn’t until I entered high school when I learned what I wanted my path to be. Following that, I looked into ways that I could make a living. Watching YouTube and watching craft shows and activities, I learned the different techniques with different mediums.

Knowing what I know now, I would have started learning and practicing in elementary-middle school.

I think skills like color theory and proportion are some of the major skills I practice.

Overthinking for sure is my biggest obstacle. It leads to indecision in my case.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am in my late 20’s, female. Focus in the graphic designer world. I have fell into the small business realm selling products with my original art on it. When I was young we owned an ice-cream truck which is where I first had my hands on owning a business. Having abut 500 sales on Etsy gives me motivation to keep going. I ended up opening my own online shop.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?

When it come to the community I feel i fall in, supporting small businesses is the biggest support. Just sharing and leaving comments or likes helps when it comes to social media which is my biggest way of getting traction.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

Just seeing someone actually buy or like my original art and not just fanart.
