Karina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
I don’t sell houses or properties. I help people to create a new lifestyle, creating more memories with their love ones and to create additional income purchasing a vacation home. The best way to maintain the relationship, it’s keeping the service managing their property and giving them peace of mind.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a single mom and I decided to become a realtor and to open my own company to change my son’s life and to give him better options in life. When I started this career I was following the same paths than most of the real estate agents do, until I realize that if I really wanted to grow and to thrive, I had to change the game. I decided to focus in international investors from latin america, looking for new opportunities to become owner in the United States. When I realized I starting clients asking me to manage their properties and I created the short term property management team to serve my clients. Within two years I have served many families and the property management business has grown around 5 times. What my clients love about KG Florida Homes and Karina Gárate is the personal connection and that we care about their interests and needs.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Most of my clients are from social media. I show stories, experiences and I provide value content to the audience. I connect with people responding their questions in my videos. More than just showing houses and properties, I provide information and experience that the people can relate with.
Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?
Everybody knows that the real estate career is not easy and it takes time and a lot of work to start making a profit. Being a single mom I couldn’t quit my regular job and become a full time realtor, I started doing some part time transactions but it wasn’t working well. I had to keep my job in order to provide for my son until one day I decided to quit and follow my dream. I became a full time realtor, working harder than anybody else in the office, I didn’t care the time, the days or the distance to show houses and to meet people. I started working 7 days a weeks, showing my clients that I cared about them and showing them as many houses as they needed until the find their home. I started in April and by the end of that year I had sold around 16 millions dollars.
