Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Luis Martin Gamito. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Luis, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
From a very young age, I became interested in drawing, especially the animals I saw in the wildlife books my parents bought me. I remember trying to copy the same drawings in a notebook, but I got frustrated because they were difficult, so I tried drawing them in a cartoonish style, and that’s when I realized it came more naturally to me. That’s when I started doodling a lot, drawing characters, making little comics, and so on. One day, when I was at school, I was looking out the window at the farm next door and started doodling sheep and horses, but then I saw a cow and started drawing it. I loved the idea of creating a character that was fun but a little mischievous, and that’s how Malaleche (BadMilk) was born. Then I started making some stickers and t-shirts, and people started to take notice. That’s when I realized that wanted to dedicate to this and create my own brand.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m an illustrator, but lately I’ve been focusing more on the world of Toy Art. Toy Art is an artistic movement that creates collectible figures for adults, valued for their design, aesthetics, and concept. These toys can be mass-produced or handcrafted; in my case, my toys are handcrafted, which set you apart from others and allows me to create a unique product. As I often say, unique toys for unique people. Besides toys, I also make t-shirts, custom sneakers, prints, posters, coffee mugs, rugs, and much more. But of all of these, I think making toys is what I’m most proud of because I truly enjoy creating them.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I would say self-expression, emotional connection with others, and a deep sense of purpose and achievement.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
My view on NFTs is divided, with proponents praising their potential to revolutionize digital property and critics questioning their intrinsic value and their social and environmental impact.
