Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Harold Cochran. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Harold, thanks for joining us today. What’s one of the most important lessons you learned in school?
The most important lesson(s) I learned, attending college, was to have an open mind and patience. I’m from a small town in Alabama where there is not much cultural diversity. When I attended Alabama A&M University, one of greatest HBCUs in the world. I had a major culture shock. You meet people from all of the world, different ethnicities, religions, different personalities, etc. you learn to adapt and meeting these different people you also learn about yourself in sense. Some things you may have not known or was ignorant to, your peers educate you on those things. You also learn patience. From financial aid to working on group projects, and personally just growing up to get to know who you are as a person. You literally become an adult while away from your family and friends. You have to be patient in that process because it can be hard at times but you always manage to get through it.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My business/brand is The Unclassified Cool. I have a clothing brand but I also operate in the creative field in creative directing, image consulting and brand building. I enjoy helping clients bring a vision to life when it comes to their brand and executing that specific idea. I always say the key is in the details. We all are creative, in a sense, but the details in which you put into a project or idea adds color to a white canvas. My objective is to not tell you what to do but to help you to put the puzzle together. It collaborative and team effort.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I would have to say I’m still building my audience on social media. I believe the people who follow me currently, are genuine and support me. Advice I would give, is to be yourself. People love authenticity. When your authentically yourself, you’ll attract those who are meant to embrace your content.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe what helped build my reputation in my market is my social media and also word of mouth. In these days your social media is basically like a virtual resume. What content are you producing? What do people see when they visit your page? How do you stand out? What is the quality of your content? These are all questions I ask myself. I want my content to say something. I don’t want to just to post. Everything has reason behind it and was thought out. With word of mouth, I work with my friends on their projects and they refer me to others alike.
