We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cassandra Andreu. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cassandra below.
Cassandra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
As a business owner, I have had many jobs to bring me to the point where I am now. Although I have loved all of my jobs in the past, as each taught me many important values and lessons for where I stand today, nothing compares to having your own business. There are many pros and cons to each. For example when working retail I had a set schedule and know exactly when I was working and when I could enjoy days off. As a successful business owner I work 24/7. I personally cant close my doors to a client when they really need me, simply because it is my “day off”. During these scenarios I have wondered about a “regular job” but that is quickly erased at the thought that I am building my brand and I am my own boss. I can take the day off, its just my over achiever attitude that interferes.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a portrait photographer helping you cherish the most precious memories. We are a team that helps you capture important milestones in your life starting from a Maternity or Newborn photo session to an engagement or bridal shower event. We have been working in the industry for over 10 years making sure we improve each and every year. There are always webinars to attend, new equipment to buy and helpful strategies we put to use to make sure to offer better services every year.
I started this as a hobby and would help friends and family capture their special days filled with the most perfect moments. As time passed these friends and family members were so happy they would recommend me to their friends and family. Over time, it had become a small business and I was ready to give up my 9-5 and pursue my dream job.
I am most proud that I can offer an affordable way to keep your memories alive forever. We offer products such as acrylics, albums and canvases for you to have in your home. I am always willing to help clients with finding the perfect ward robe, location and even offer make up services on site.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for me is “Word of Mouth”! If your client is happy they will share your info with their loved ones. Make sure to always make your clients feel welcomed and thank them for their business. Always value those who support you and make sure they feel that.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Yes, when I first started I would basically let clients run the show. I let them decide everything and would work everyday without leaving time for myself. Although I still feel the need to work around my clients I do try to schedule myself some time off. This comes with its limitations, for example if a client has an event, I will move my day off as those cannot be rescheduled. As for clients running the show, I did have to start creating packages where they can chose from, deposits and fees for tardiness, as my time as very valuable and cannot work with clients who do not take it serious.
