We recently connected with Quinten Foster and have shared our conversation below.
Quinten, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
My passion for basketball represents a meaningful source of motivation, discipline and growth. For me, the biggest thing was I saw an opportunity to use my gift of teaching. Serving others and being a source of guidance is something I take pride in. Starting my business was a journey that took many years prior to starting to do. I will say a lot of prayer and preparation served as the foundation. I have played basketball for the majority of my life, the skills become natural to me, most importantly the life skills I learned become the structure of my day to day living. My next step was identifying my audience and who could I help to start my path. I have a passion for teaching, so I began to reach out to local schools, grassroot programs and youth organizations offering training sessions. Over the course of a few months my name began to grow and my training program began. My clientele also increased from coaching several different events here in the Atlanta area.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My entry into the basketball training business was a process of hard work and determination. Many years of planning and processing how I wanted to make an impact on the lives I encounter. Through my brand, I offer training services to develop basketball player skills. Working with all ranges of ages and skill levels. My role is to teach and develop the skills necessary to be effective and efficient during a live game setting. Instilling confidence in the players, families and companies that give me the opportunity to make a difference. The process of developing skill comes from repetition, film study and a collective effort of both trainer and player making the necessary adjustments to create good habits. I’ve worked with over 1,000 players, helped players get scholarships for many levels of college basketball, however most importantly taught life skills to be successful when the game is over. Making a change in life by far is what I enjoy the most.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The best practice that has worked for me is leading with good intentions. My brand offers free sessions to show how we are genuinely interested in our clients growth. Teaching concepts that are not often taught in other events are typical with what I lead with. During my sessions I take the initiative to be the focal point and demonstrate every move and skill asked to do, players benefit from having live examples. Visual representation is key for Player Development.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Networking and Brand Events are key to growth. Networking can be a wild range of things. Coaching is a good way to create a foundation for your brand. You have a good understanding of the players you work with and will continue to develop there skills in another setting. Working with other trainers, doing collaboration events to reach more players. Being consistent in your work ethic and having players grow, they will come back to the lessons and skills you taught them. Creating meaningful content is another means of reaching more people. Showing what players need assistance with helps a lot.
