Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cynthia Garnier. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Cynthia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
My journey into baking wasn’t a polished origin story. I didn’t sit down with a plan or a perfect concept. People around me simply enjoyed what I made, and over time, I realized I had accidentally started a business. At first, I was making every type of cake and dessert people asked for. But as I grew, I noticed something important. The creations that truly moved people weren’t the ones that followed trends. They were the ones that meant something to them personally.
A certain flavor they grew up with.
A design that reminded them of home.
A moment tied to someone they loved.
One of the experiences that shaped Radiance the most was a client who had recently lost her father. She told me that when she tasted my triple chocolate fudge brownie, it brought her straight back to her childhood. It brought her back to memories of him. That moment stayed with me. To create something that reconnects someone with comfort, with memory, with love — that’s more than dessert. That’s emotional. That’s when I understood what I wanted my business to stand for. Not just cake. Not just art. But moments in time. The little flashes of life that make us feel seen, celebrated, and remembered. Radiance Cake Artistry was built from that idea. Everyone deserves something special, something intentionally made, something that reflects who they are. That’s what excited me then, and it’s what still drives me now.

Cynthia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I create luxury buttercream cakes with fondant accents, cupcakes, and brownies with a focus on beauty, flavor, and thoughtful details. Everything I know came from years of teaching myself, practicing with love, and wanting people to feel special when they taste or see my work.
What sets Radiance apart is the heart behind every order. I design with intention, using soft textures, gentle florals, and warm, inviting colors. My clients come to me when they want something personal for their celebration, something that feels like it carries meaning. I always want my desserts to feel comforting, elegant, and full of joy.
I am most proud of the moments when my desserts bring someone back to a memory or make them feel cared for. When a client tells me a flavor reminded them of home or a loved one, it touches me deeply. That is when I know the work is bigger than the desserts. It is connection.
What I want people to know about Radiance is simple. Everything I create is made with care, patience, and gratitude. I want my clients to feel valued and celebrated, whether it is a big milestone or a small personal moment. That is also why I do not take too many orders at once. I want each person to receive the time, focus, and intention their order deserves. I never want anyone to feel rushed. I want them to feel cherished.
Radiance Cake Artistry is elegance with heart, created to bring joy and meaning to every moment.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There was a period when I had to step back from taking orders because my health needed my full attention. It was not an easy decision, especially when you love what you do, but I knew that I could not pour from an empty cup. Instead of pushing through and producing work that did not feel like my best, I paused, rested, and allowed myself to heal. During that time, I questioned whether clients would return or if the momentum I had built would fade. But when I came back, the opposite happened. People were patient, supportive, and waiting for me. That experience taught me that resilience is not always about pushing harder. Sometimes it is about stepping back with intention so you can return stronger. It reminded me that my clients value not only my desserts, but the heart and care behind them. That lesson continues to guide how I run Radiance today.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been combining genuine care with consistent, high-quality work. Word of mouth has always been my strongest form of growth, because when people feel valued and excited about their order, they naturally share it with others. I also use Instagram to show my process, my aesthetic, and the small details that make each dessert feel special. I focus on being authentic, warm, and intentional instead of trying to chase trends. Over time, that has built trust. Clients know that when they order from Radiance, they will receive something made with attention, patience, and love. That trust has been the foundation of my growth more than anything else.
