We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Good Times Roll. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Good Times Roll below.
Alright, Good Times Roll thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
One of the biggest risks my husband Chris and I ever took was deciding to buy a beat up 1973 Volkswagen bus and turn it into what is now the Good Times Roll Bus. At the time, it didn’t feel like a business plan. It felt more like chasing a dream. We both loved vintage cars, events, and anything that brought people joy. But choosing to pour our savings, our time, and our entire hearts into restoring an old VW bus was definitely a leap of faith.
When we first saw the bus, it was a shell. The interior was rotted, the wiring was a mess, the engine wasn’t running, and the bright orange body had seen better days. Chris looked at me and said, “this is the one,” and something in me trusted that completely. What made the decision even riskier was the timing. We launched in early 2020, and the week we planned to start marketing our new “VW photo booth rental” concept, the world shut down because of covid.
Instead of giving up, we used that time to refine everything. Chris rebuilt almost every inch of the interior, we worked closely with a shop on the mechanical work, and I poured myself into designing the entire experience. The decor, the branding, the custom photo templates, the website, all of it. It felt like we were building something in the dark and hoping people would show up when the world reopened.
When events finally returned, the response was more than we ever imagined. That one bus has grown into five identical buses. We expanded from Miami to St. Petersburg, Jacksonville, Central Florida, and even began doing out of state activations for major brands. What started as a scary financial and emotional risk became the foundation of a business that now supports our family, employs an amazing team, and brings joy to thousands of people each year.
Looking back, the real risk wasn’t about the bus. It was about believing we could create something completely unique even when the timing, the world, and the size of the project seemed impossible. And that risk has become one of the most rewarding decisions of our lives.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Kelly Fernandez and my husband Chris and I are the founders of The Good Times Roll Bus, a mobile VW photo booth experience that blends nostalgia, creativity, and brand activation in a way that truly stands out. We never set out to create a traditional business. Our journey started with a shared love for vintage cars, experiential events, and creating moments that make people smile. That passion eventually led us to a beat up 1970s Volkswagen bus that we transformed into something completely unique.
What began as a fun idea for one restored VW bus has now grown into a full experience based brand with a fleet of identical buses that serve events across Florida and throughout the Southeast. We bring a fully immersive photo booth to weddings, corporate activations, festivals, product launches, markets, and special events of all kinds. Each bus comes with custom decor, curated props, unlimited prints, digital sharing, and a completely branded guest experience. For many of our clients, especially our corporate partners, we also offer custom wraps and on bus branding so the vehicle becomes a rolling extension of their brand.
What sets us apart is our attention to detail and the heart behind everything we do. Chris partners up with local shops and they rebuild the buses by hand from the interiors to the mechanical work, giving each one an authentic charm people immediately connect with. I focus on the guest experience, the styling, the branding, the photo templates, and the visual storytelling that brings everything together. We both pour ourselves into every event, no matter the size, because we care deeply about the moments being created inside our buses.
I am most proud of the fact that this small idea grew into something that supports our family and brings joy to thousands of people each year. We have worked with incredible brands, traveled to amazing places, and formed connections we never expected. But what means the most is seeing people step inside the bus, laugh, feel nostalgic, and leave with a photo strip they will keep forever.
Whether it is your wedding day or a large scale brand activation, our goal is always the same: to make people smile, create unforgettable memories, and bring good times wherever we go.
