We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicholas Burdo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicholas below.
Nicholas, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I broke my foot.
Throughout my adolescence I was trying my best to look good for others as far as a career standpoint. I made music on the side and for fun but deep down whilst creating, there was something about it that fueled me. I didn’t yet know what it was. Within the fun, a part of me took it close to heart. I never wanted to stop progressing in it and I wanted to teach myself everything there was to know about it. But i’m sure no family, especially mine wanted to hear that their kid wants to be a rockstar.
Deeper into depression I go.
I was career set to become a firefighter and the pitch my family gave me was that I could still make music on the side. For years, that was the pitch I hit… Until I broke my foot – Skateboarding down a bridge freshly after a tropical storm (Twas wet as fuck outside). I put a hole in my elbow and I broke my foot. Needed crutches for the first time and couldn’t walk without.
I was 17 in the hospital after this happened when I heard somebody scream of agonizing pain in the distance. I couldn’t wait to leave it made me sick to my stomach. Later on that night I thought, “Man, how the fuck am I gonna be a firefighter if I can’t even handle that shit?” The dwell I had on myself faded through the revelation. I had put on my glasses for life. “This is not what i’m here for. I am here to create, inspire, and achieve my goals as an artist.” In other words, save lives through a more spiritual level. To figure out how to do that… well that was the journey I was willing and still am willing to accept as long as I did it to its fullest and try my best to reach my potential with love.

Nicholas, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Artistically know as 8ightvibes, my real name is Nicholas Burdo. I am a future icon. I started writing songs and lyrics in 5th grade, Producing and composing tracks of my own and close friends in 8th grade and it hasn’t stopped since. I got into this industry to express myself poetically and inspire others through my creative arts. To become the best version of myself and build a career doing what frees my spirit the most. Not only do I write and create songs I’m a drummer in a band and host events. I sell feelings and energy. I feel without 8ightvibes world is stale. I strive to keep the scene fresh and successful and blend genres. I pray my vulnerability is enough for the fans to feel connected and seen as well. I hope to give you the confidence to scream the loudest like a Banshee.
I am super proud of the studio/label I’ve build “Swangcity”. The world I’ve created through The Banshees Tape. Which is my latest mixtape release. The ambiguously flagrant feeling I’ve created with the name “8ightvibes”.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Rocking out on stage and hearing people singing lyrics back. Listening to the final result of my creation.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Your friends don’t owe you a thing. Your actions will not be reciprocated and you have to be okay with that. Place people accordingly.
