Alright, LaSonda thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
It all started in February, 2020. I had a hysterectomy and experienced hair loss from it. No haircare products on my shelf helped regrow my hair. I was left devastated and lacked self-confidence, I went to a dermatologist & trichologist to see if my hair follicles were still alive. I looked at the labels and had an ah-ha moment. I realized that all the products I was using had nut oils as their ingredients. I have a nut allergy, and that’s the moment that changed my life. I researched and formulated my first product, Avocado Oil Stimulating Hair Growth Serum.

Hi, I’m LaSonda Carrizales, MSHRM, Founder & CEO of My Crown My Glory, LLC. I’m a wife, mother of three beautiful daughters, grandmother to two amazing grandsons, and a proud bonus mom to three incredible daughters, two sons, and two grandchildren. My family is my heart, and they are a huge part of my “why.”
My journey into the beauty industry started long before I launched my business. I started styling hair from home years ago, not realizing it was preparing me for the purpose I walk in today. After undergoing major health challenges, including a hysterectomy that caused severe hair loss, and living with eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, and nut allergies, I found myself unable to use most products on the market. Shea, coconut, almond, and other nut-based oils were in almost everything, and they triggered painful reactions for me.
Instead of settling for products that didn’t work or harmed my skin, I decided to create my own. After countless hours of research, testing, collaborating with a chemist, and learning cosmetic formulation, I created what would become my flagship product: the Avocado Oil Stimulating Hair Growth Serum, a nut-free, effective formula that became a bestseller.
Today, My Crown My Glory offers a full line of 100% nut-free, shea-free, coconut-free hair and skincare products, handcrafted with safe, natural ingredients that actually support the scalp, skin, and overall health. We help women, men, and children dealing with:

What I want people to know is this: My Crown My Glory isn’t just a business. It’s healing. It’s empowerment. It’s personal. It was born from my own pain and turned into purpose. Our slogan says it best: “It’s not shea, it’s avocado.” I created these products so others could finally experience beauty without fear.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
Yes, we came up with the concept, researched ingredients, created the formulation, and manufactured the products in our home.
After researching the ingredients for the formula, I reached out to a cosmetic chemist for formulation advice. From there, I formulated and manufacture my own products at home. I’ve had many rials and errors creating my formulas and only put the best into the market.
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
We sell our products online via Shopify. When researching websites, this was the most suggested platform for business brands.
