We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Timmy Renz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Timmy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
That’s exciting! I have gone through your text and polished the grammar and punctuation to ensure it is professional, engaging, and suitable for a magazine feature.
Here is the revised piece, structured for readability and impact:
💥 The Path to Glory: Gluttony’s Journey to Professional Wrestling
The moment I first knew I wanted to pursue a creative and artistic path professionally was not in the ring, but through the competitive realm of online “promoing” in 2019. This medium allowed me to hone the craft that eventually defined my career in Professional Wrestling.
Childhood Roots and Resilience
Born in 1990, I was raised in a large, vibrant family in Chalmette, Louisiana. The ’90s offered the best of wrestling, and my world revolved around it—watching shows, collecting figures, and staging backyard matches with friends. The dream of becoming a wrestler was ingrained early on.
This life was abruptly interrupted in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina left our world a disaster. Friends of the family tracked us down and brought us to Jena, Louisiana, to start fresh. As a 15-year-old starting a new school, I was concerned about fitting in, but I soon found a group of friends with shared interests. Among them, Jake Smith became more than a friend; he became family. Now, at 35, I still call him brother.
Jake and I continuously discussed “The Dream.” We incorporated wrestling into our everyday lives, from backyard matches to creating characters, or gimmicks. While responsibilities briefly sidelined Jake, and later me, in our early twenties, we always made time for Independent Wrestling shows. I had a short training opportunity that was cut short by my own responsibilities, and wrestling took a back burner for a few years.
The Creative Pivot: 2019
After a period of sporadic communication, Jake and I reconnected. In 2019, he told me about a new hobby he had picked up: “promoing.” This is competitive online talking where participants create a character and are given 3 minutes and 30 seconds to deliver their best verbal attack on an opponent. Success in this realm was rewarded with real, custom championship belts.
This is where everything changed for me. We began promoing for The Wrestling Boiler Room (Voice of Honor) on Facebook. Jake developed the gimmick known today as Rika Wildlee, and I eventually created the character that defines me: Gluttony – The Big Top Butcher. We dedicated years to this, becoming skilled not only in performance but also in editing and producing content.
The Ring Calls: 2021 and Beyond
In 2021, while working on promo material, I saw an advertisement from the United Wrestling Entertainment (UWE) for a wrestling school opening locally. I immediately called Jake, who was out of the country on his honeymoon, with the news. Jake seized the opportunity upon his return, successfully completing the academy and becoming a licensed professional wrestler, bringing his promo character to life.
My time had not yet come, but I supported him fully. I traveled with Jake and my family, helping to create and sell his merchandise. A few years later, my involvement deepened. At an NHEW show in Hope, Arkansas, they needed referees, and I stepped in. Next, I filled the role of commentator. My hunger for involvement grew, and I consistently helped set up and tear down the ring for UWE in Central Louisiana.
Gluttony Emerges
In October 2024, Jake (Rika) needed a manager for his tag team, The Family Affiliated, for an SWF show in Silsbee, Texas. He challenged me to bring my promo character to life for the role. I was ecstatic. At the SWF Vally of Nightmares show in 2024, GLUTTONY emerged.
My role as a traveling manager soon evolved. In January 2025, at another SWF show, I was offered an impromptu match due to a strong crowd reaction. The nerves were intense, but once my music hit, they lifted, and I had a fun, successful match. Opportunities quickly followed: a fill-in match in Mendenhall, Mississippi, with BCW, and matches with TNR in Arkansas and RWE in Oklahoma City. This culminated in me winning the RWE US Championship in April 2025—my first championship as a professional wrestler.
Recognizing the need to further hone my craft and obtain a license to wrestle in Louisiana, I enrolled in the United Wrestling Entertainment Wrestling Academy under the direction of Dannie Davis (Dapper Dan) and Rika Wildlee. I completed the academy in August 2025 while continuing my wrestling travels.
This is just the beginning. Continuing my journey has led to work with great companies and awesome people. Looking to the future, I am proud to announce that Jake Smith and I are opening a new company, Exist to Inspire Wrestling, in South East Texas in 2026.

Timmy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As you all read in the previous question the beginning tales of Gluttony-The Bigtop Butcher-
1. The Core Drive and Commitment
”My journey into professional wrestling is the definition of passion becoming a profession. What started as a dream evolved into a hobby, then a dedication, and is now a career I attack with 100% commitment. Completing the academy was merely the starting line; the true work requires continuous training, late nights, and long hours traveling on the road. This career demands hard work, dedication, and an undeniable hunger. That absolute commitment—that drive to give my very best to every endeavor—is what truly sets me apart.”
2. Craft Mastery and Safety
”In the ring, my focus is on mastery of the craft. This involves rigorous training, constant study, and honing every detail of my performance. I understand the dual responsibility of this profession: to entertain the crowd and to keep both myself and my opponent safe. From the moment my entrance music hits to the final three count, my job is to be a master storyteller, utilizing every sequence and reaction to make the audience feel the narrative and investment of the match.”
3. Entrepreneurial Acumen and Audience Connection
”Beyond the ropes, I approach wrestling as a business. Making myself relatable to the audience is paramount, as they are the foundation of this industry. I am actively engaged in producing high-quality content of my matches to widen my audience base via social media. Furthermore, I proactively manage the business logistics—creating and selling merchandise is essential for maintaining funding for travel and keeping my ring gear and equipment in top repair. I don’t just wrestle; I manage my brand and engage my market.”
Professional Reflection: The Value of the Journey
If I were asked what I am most proud of, it wouldn’t be a single achievement but the entire professional and personal journey that has brought me to this moment. The distance between where I started and where I stand today represents years of discipline, commitment, and sustained growth.
My career as a professional wrestler, for example, is far more than a sporting endeavor; it is a masterclass in high-stakes performance, self-management, and brand building. It requires the physical and mental resilience to perform under intense pressure, maintain peak physical condition, and constantly adapt to dynamic environments. This professional discipline translates directly to how I approach targets and complex projects: with unwavering focus and a determination to deliver a memorable, high-quality result.
However, success is never achieved in isolation. I take immense pride in the loyal community and strong support network I have cultivated. The dedication of my fanbase and the steadfast support of my close friends speak to my ability to build trust, foster strong relationships, and lead by example. I view leadership not just as giving direction, but as building a community where mutual dependency and support—in the highest highs and lowest lows—are the foundation.
Ultimately, my greatest drive is the perspective provided by my personal life. Having a wife and four children who offer unconditional support and express genuine pride in my work is the constant reminder of my larger purpose. Being a role model for them informs every decision I make, grounding my professional ambition in integrity and responsibility. This foundation allows me to approach every challenge with perspective, resilience, and a clear understanding of the values I represent.
In summary, I am proudest of having built a life where professional success and personal fulfillment reinforce one another, allowing me to bring a foundation of discipline, audience engagement, and purposeful drive to every opportunity.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of this endeavor is the opportunity to encourage everyone, young and old, to pursue their dreams and passions. My belief is that if I can achieve this, so can you. This conviction is precisely why I have structured these questions around the arts and the creative process, demonstrating that anything you dedicate your heart and mind to is, in some way, a form of art.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
