We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Audrey Buah. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Audrey below.
Hi Audrey, thanks for joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
The best investment I’ve made is buying a laptop for myself and learning how to edit photos and videos. I was doing the editing on my phone but they were slowing down my phone so i had to really lock in and save up to move to a laptop for a smoother process and i have not regretted since.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Audrey Buah. You can call me Aud cos i believe I’m “odd” in a good sense of the word. I am a photographer.
I have always been fascinated with taking photos especially of every day things and what surrounds me. I am guided by the beauty and marvel of our world. I would always randomly take photos of interesting things i set my eyes on with my phone(not an iPhone btw haha) and post them on my socials without thinking much of/about it. But then people would ask, “are you a photographer? the photos are nice” and that gave me some kind of energy to really take it serious and really learn about it (composition, lighting, editing, etc.)
So fast forward, 2021, on my birthday, my sisters gifted me a brand new Samsung phone and the camera quality was “bada**” to me so i started taking photos with it, going on YouTube and learning how to edit those photos.
I’d download make-do digital or film camera apps just so i could have a feel of what using an “actual” camera is like and also learn about exposure, shutter speed and all those photography words haha.
I watched a ton of tutorial videos on how to use a professional digital camera even without ever holding one. Then fast forward, a kind human and photographer reached out to me and told me that i could go for his camera and use for practice any time because he was seeing the photos i was posting on my socials and saw i had potential. He taught me the basics and i got to use an actual camera for the first time.
What sets me apart from other photographers is that I’m not trying to use photography to beautify things, what i see is what i shoot and i use my editing skills to make the photos have a “feel” or “mood”. That is why i am mostly taking photos of things that surrounds me. It’s more like aesthetics for me.
I love taking unaware photos of friends. “Overly posed” photos don’t do it for me. Someone in action or even still but not necessary waiting on me to click their photo, that’s when my instincts kick in to take a photo. Feels raw and unique that way.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is that I wake up every day and get live a creative life. It is a driving force for my existence and being, really.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely. I wanna be among the greats. History books will know the name Audrey, not Hepburn but Audrey Buah.
Being listed as one of the great female photographers is the goal.
