We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashley Getzinger a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ashley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?

When I lost my space during Hurricane Helene, the sugaring community truly lifted me up. So many amazing companies and fellow professionals came together to donate money and supplies so I could continue my practice. It reminded me why I love this industry so much — it’s not just about beauty, it’s about supporting each other and lifting one another up.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I first discovered sugaring while living in Hawaii and was instantly drawn to how natural, gentle, and effective it was compared to traditional waxing. That curiosity turned into a calling — I decided to pursue professional training so I could master the craft. I was fortunate to train directly with Myra herself, one of the pioneers in the sugaring world, which gave me a deep respect for the artistry and precision behind every service. She owns and started the Guru Sugaring Academy.

For over seven years now, I’ve been dedicated to providing the highest-quality sugaring hair removal services. My goal is not just to remove hair, but to create a comfortable, educational, and empowering experience for every client. I also love sharing my knowledge through training and demonstrations, helping others discover this incredible technique and elevate their own skill sets.

What sets my practice apart is the level of care and education behind every appointment. I take pride in using clean, professional-grade products and in maintaining the traditional methods of sugaring while keeping up with the latest advancements in technique and skin health.

I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me, the confidence they gain after each visit, and the opportunity I have to continue growing both as a professional and educator in the sugaring world. For anyone new to sugaring, I want them to know that it’s more than hair removal — it’s an experience rooted in care, comfort, and the confidence that comes from feeling good in your own skin.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

What’s helped me build my reputation with clients is the care and education I put into every service. From the very first visit, I take time to educate each client on proper pre- and post-sugaring care so they can achieve the best possible results and maintain healthy, glowing skin. During the service, I focus on making them feel completely comfortable — especially if they’re new to sugaring or nervous about the process. Over the years, I’ve developed a precise technique that ensures the most effective and gentle results, leaving the skin smooth with minimal irritation.

That combination of education, comfort, and skilled technique has allowed me to build strong, lasting relationships with my clients. They know I genuinely care about their experience and their skin — and that trust has been the foundation of my business.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

Over the years, I’ve grown my clientele through genuine connection and consistency. I always make it a priority to follow up with existing clients — checking in after appointments, answering questions, and making sure they’re happy with their results. That personal attention goes a long way in building trust and long-term relationships.

Social media has also played a big role in my growth. I use it not just to promote my business, but to educate people about sugaring — sharing tips on skin prep, aftercare, and the many benefits of this natural method. By focusing on education, I’ve been able to attract clients who are truly interested in taking care of their skin and understanding the process.

In addition to working with clients, I’m also a sugaring trainer. Teaching others how to master the technique and grow their own businesses has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. I love helping new professionals build confidence, refine their skills, and carry on the tradition of quality and care that defines the sugaring community.
