We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kourtnii Clark a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kourtnii , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?

We believe in giving back to the community, we’ve donated thousands of dollars to charities, we’ve paid electric bills, given out food, toilet paper, toiletries, beds, clothes, gifts for struggling families during Christmas and we even do animal rescue/rehabilitation on the side. We would be nothing without our community and prioritize helping people directly who need it. I want to make sure we are not just a business but a safe space people can rely on and know when they purchase with us they are also contributing to helping people in need.

Kourtnii , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Embodii Crystals started in 2017 through vending events and online sales, we opened our first store front in 2020 and have sense been called to create space for our community through events, classes, workshops and public rituals. We emphasize practicing your craft, creating magic and getting involved in community to strengthen your manifestations. We also promote healing, to step in your most authentic self, raising your vibrations though crystals, spirituality and harnessing your power within.
We have over 100 different herbs in store, over 200 different materials in tumbled crystals alone. We have a special selection of rare, uncommon, you be reactive and even toxic stones! We carry all shapes and sizes from small spheres, hearts and carvings to huge towers and Cathedrals.
We’re not just a crystal shop, we are a whole vibe complete with full holiday Store decorations, its like stepping into another world and coming out refreshed and restored.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?

There are times I’ve had to get really creative with funding, in order to offer the great low prices we do. I have had to do a lot of networking and traveling all over the country meeting with mines and Crystal suppliers. When I first started during the covid live sales boom I would drive out and spend every dollar I had on large wholesale orders and hope I would be able to sell enough to make it back home or go back for more crystals! It was definitely a wild time of living on faith and support from our community which is why we give back so much!

Have you ever had to pivot?

I built Embodii Crystals online, we started doing live streaming sales in 2017 before it really started taking off. So when covid hit in 2020 and everyone started to turn to online sales for their small businesses we were already a trusted established online source. Once we opened our storefront and people started turning to brick and mortar in person sales more than online our community shifted and called for more in person events, classes and workshops, I wasn’t prepared to head up a community or be a teacher, or a leader I just wanted to be a little cottage witch with my crystals but the universe has really pushed me to step into my power and share my knowledge, creating a safe space for Community to learn and create Magic together.
