We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amy Guest Renee Dierdorff a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Amy Guest thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The Story of Fizzology Soda Shop
The idea for Fizzology Soda Shop actually started with something simple — a TikTok video. One night, scrolling through fun drink recipes and “dirty soda” creations, we stumbled upon the trend and thought, this looks so fun — and delicious! That one clip sparked a conversation, then a curiosity, and before long, a full-on obsession with flavors, fizz, and creativity.
We started researching everything — flavor combinations, soda bases, creams, fruits, syrups, and what made certain mixes so addictive. We spent weekends taste testing with our family and friends, experimenting with different blends until we found that perfect balance of sweet, creamy, and refreshing. The reactions we got made us realize we were onto something — people lit up when they tried the drinks.
Next came the business logic. We did our homework, researching the competition and quickly discovering that there was nothing quite like this in our area. Surrounded by a growing community with families looking for new, fun experiences, we saw a clear opportunity. That’s when we decided to start small — as a mobile shop, so we could bring the fun directly to markets, community events, and festivals while building a loyal following.
What makes Fizzology unique is that it’s built on our complementary talents and shared creativity. Renee is a gifted brand and graphic designer — she brought our name, logo, and entire brand identity to life. Amy has a background in public relations and event planning, so she thrives on community engagement and creating memorable experiences. Together, we blended our skills, passion, and imagination into a business that celebrates fun, flavor, and connection.
Fizzology is more than a soda shop — it’s where creativity bubbles over. Every drink is an experiment in joy, and seeing people’s faces light up after their first sip reminds us why we knew this was a worthwhile endeavor.

Amy Guest, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Fizzology Soda Shop — About Us
Founded by Amy Guest and Renee Dierdorff, Fizzology Soda Shop brings creativity, community, and fun together — one fizzy drink at a time. What began as a TikTok-inspired idea turned into a flavorful adventure of testing unique “dirty soda” combinations and sharing them with family, friends, and now the entire community.
With Amy’s background in public relations and events and Renee’s talent in branding and design, Fizzology blends eye-catching creativity with genuine connection. Our mobile soda shop serves custom sodas made with flavored syrups, creams, and fresh fruit — a nostalgic, refreshing treat that makes people smile.
Fizzology isn’t just about drinks; it’s about creating moments of joy and bringing people together. We’re proud to offer something truly unique to our area — a place where flavor, fun, and community all come to life.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
How We Met
Our story started, like many great friendships do — through our kids. Renee has two daughters and Amy has three, and our oldest girls met while doing gymnastics together. Before long, we both joined the team’s parent booster club, and that’s where our friendship really took off. We worked side by side running the booster, quickly discovering that we shared more than just carpool schedules — we had similar backgrounds, creative spirits, and a deep entrepreneurial drive.
As our friendship grew, so did our families’ connection. Everyone clicked, and it wasn’t long before our shared ideas turned into real projects. In 2021, we co-founded a nonprofit called Kid Biz Expo, which focused on empowering youth entrepreneurs and supporting our own children’s business ventures. It was an incredible experience that blended community, creativity, and mentorship — all things we’re passionate about.
After several successful years, we decided to dissolve the nonprofit and turn our energy toward building something that could grow and evolve alongside our families. That’s when we discovered dirty sodas — a fun, flavor-filled trend that sparked our next big idea. We fell in love with the creativity behind it and saw a perfect opportunity to combine our talents once again. From that spark, Fizzology Soda Shop was born — and the rest, as they say, is history.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
After seeing incredible success with our mobile soda shop, we decided to take a big step and purchase a space to renovate into a brick-and-mortar Fizzology Soda Shop. It was an exciting leap forward — but soon after, we faced unexpected permit and construction delays that put our plans on hold. Instead of letting that discourage us, we got creative. We transformed our space-in-progress into a hub of community fun — decorating it with a 12-foot skeleton and hosting seasonal events and food drives right outside. What started as a temporary solution became a symbol of our perseverance and connection with our community. It taught us that resilience isn’t just about waiting out challenges — it’s about adapting, staying visible, and keeping the joy alive while you build your dream.
