We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marquis Williams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marquis below.
Marquis , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
For showing my customers my appreciation, I gave away some free merch and key chains at vendor events.

Marquis , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Marquis Williams. I’m 36 year old and been having a passion and appreciate of arts, designing, and fashion since I was in grad schoool. I am a small black business owner from a small town called Social Circle which is located 40 mins east of Atlanta, Ga. My inspiration came from the 90’ s rap fashion growing up. Being an Athlete as well, really kept me in tune with the latest fashion and music. I’ve started my brand Epik Clothing in 2019. It was a challenge at first, being a first-time dad and staying consistent with the brand but I manage to get it known and received much support in my area, multiple states and in other countries. I am most proud of my effort and the support I’ve received throughout the years. What my brand represent is a way of life to live and do everything positive, don’t sell yourself short, and never settled. My service provides, shirts, pants, hoodies, sweatshirts, etc.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think my preparation and consistency with orders. I made it an incisive point to put my customers first and research a lot. You don’t want to be the one doing what everybody else is doing so you find ways of separating yourself into your own lane. Addition to this, people don’t want to buy and wear the same thing.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
It’s been many times I want to give up but my ideas and creativity won’t allow that. It was a time when I overstock inventory and was just sitting on it. Nobody wasn’t really purchasing anything, so I continue to create new ideas to see what can work. I even lower the prices on the merchandise to break even. I even pick up another side hustle to keep flourishing. I just didn’t see myself giving up on something I have so much passion for.
