Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Octavia Traylor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Octavia, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business wasn’t born out of a business plan, it was born out of brokenness. Out of survival. Out of deep pain and even deeper purpose.
I was in one of the hardest seasons of my life, emotionally drained, spiritually lost, financially struggling, and still trying to show up as a mother, a woman, and a provider. I was battling silent storms: domestic violence from my first marriage, a miscarriage in my second marriage that ultimately led to divorce, and the heartbreak of feeling like I lost my best friend, along with deep shame and unresolved trauma.
And for a long time, I thought I had to hide it all. Be strong. Be silent. Be put together. But one day, I broke, and that breakdown became the beginning of my breakthrough. I heard God whisper, Tell your story. Start there. And so I did.
That’s when I began writing my book, Reclaiming My Crown: Becoming the Boss I Needed. Page by page, I poured out my truth, the pain, the lessons, the survival, the grace. It wasn’t just a book. It was my healing in hardcover. It was the proof that I didn’t just go through the fire, I came out refined by it. And through that process, I realized this was the business. My voice. My story. My healing. My ability to empower other women who felt like they were drowning in silence, just like I had.
From that book came the foundation of my brand and my community: Bible, Baddies & Boundaries. A sacred sisterhood for women who love God but also need a space for healing, truth, and boundaries. Women who are trying to heal their hearts while still handling business. Women who’ve survived the worst and still dare to believe in better.
I didn’t see a space like that anywhere, so I built it. And I knew this would work not because it was trendy, but because it was transformational. Because every time I shared my truth, another woman whispered, Me too.
I wasn’t solving a market gap. I was solving a soul gap, the kind that only honesty, faith, and purpose can fill.
So no, I didn’t just create a brand.
I created a blueprint. For the woman who’s been through hell and is ready to heal, rise, and reclaim her crown, one chapter, one boundary, and one breakthrough at a time.
Octavia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who may not have read about me before, let me reintroduce myself. I’m Octavia Traylor, but many know me as Boss Ladi. I’m a published author, empowerment speaker, content creator, and the founder of Bible, Baddies & Boundaries, a faith-based digital sisterhood helping women heal, set boundaries, and step into their glow-up spiritually, emotionally, and boldly.
I didn’t enter this industry the traditional way. I didn’t go to school for branding or business. I went through life, the hard way. I’m a two-time divorcée, domestic violence survivor, mother, woman of faith, and creative soul who decided that my story wasn’t going to end in silence, it was going to spark transformation.
I began this journey while writing my first book, Reclaiming My Crown: Becoming the Boss I Needed. After a year and a half in therapy and talking to God about my next direction, that book started, just me and God, page by page. But it turned into a movement.
From there, I built a brand that blended my personal healing with creative expression, through coaching, digital products, live events, prayer calls, bible studies, content creation, mentorship, and now community. Bible, Baddies & Boundaries™ is more than a brand. It’s a blueprint for becoming.
I serve women who feel stuck between survival and success, women who are emotionally tired but spiritually hungry. Women who want to rebuild their lives without losing themselves.
Through my resources, workshops, prayer calls, and online content, I help them reconnect with their God-given power, set boundaries that protect their peace, and step into the rooms they used to feel unworthy of.
My digital products include:
•My book & companion workbook
•Faith-based journals and affirmations
•1:1 sessions and workshops
•The Baddie Hotline, a space for real talk, healing and hard conversations
•A full membership sisterhood for women who want faith, strategy & community
What sets me apart is that I don’t speak at women, I speak with them. Because I’ve lived what I teach. My work is infused with real-life wisdom, scripture, strategy, and style. It’s relatable, unfiltered, spirit-led, and transformational.
What I’m most proud of is that I didn’t wait until I had it all together to start helping others. I showed up broken and let God do the rest. And in doing so, I’ve helped countless women stop shrinking, start healing, and finally see themselves as the Queens they’ve always been.
If you take nothing else from my brand, I want you to know this:
•You can be a baddie and heal and build.
•You can be both soft and strong.
•And your story isn’t over, it’s just getting started.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience by being real, raw, and relatable. I stopped trying to be perfect and started telling the truth, about healing, boundaries, faith, and survival. The more honest I got, the more women said, “Sis, I feel seen.” My advice? Don’t chase trends, tell your story. Be consistent, be valuable, and most importantly, be authentically you. The right audience will find you when you stop hiding.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn? That being strong meant staying silent.
For so long, I wore “strength” like a badge, surviving abuse, heartbreak, loss, and disappointment with a smile on my face and pain in my chest. I thought being quiet about my struggles made me noble. But really, it was keeping me stuck.
The real strength came when I spoke up, asked for help, shared my story, and let God use my voice as a vessel. I had to unlearn the lie that silence was survival because truth is what set me free.
