We recently connected with Gabrielle Kilgore and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Gabrielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
The process to execute an idea is soooo hectic. I go from being inspired by what I see, friends stories, or photographers work to piles of scraps on the floor!
To start Fondé (Fond), I fell in love with storytelling and how discarded materials could share a story others would resonate with.
The next year, I was apart of showcases, my Alma mater’s presentations, and working closely with other artists that inspire me.

Gabrielle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a garment architect ( specializing in garment construction and deconstruction), and I live in Atlanta. I started illustrating garments from designers that inspired me. It went from shows like Sex and the City to Chanel designs, I would sketch and fall in love. In high school I designed my first prom dress and the rest is history. The discipline I get from sewing and cultivating my own clothes really feeds my purpose and motivation to create new perspectives in my work.
The problems I solve for my clients is putting an ounce of creativity back into their lives and closets. We’re consumed by wanting so much, but I provide for my clients the urge to search closets, old things that we can give life again.
I’m mostly proud of my rebrand and the craftsmanship of my work.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn was thinking that what I’m creating is already out there. My belief in what God has for me is so much greater than anything! I know what I’m setup for and whatever I ask for I shall receive .

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my business with the support of friends and family honestly! Promoting like crazy and collaborating like crazy!
