We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaseem Randell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kaseem , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Working with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson is always a great experience and project making experience. I’ve shot different segments and interviews with him working with BALLY SPORTS that we did with the nba all star game 2023 where we interviewed Dwayne Wade, Jennifer Hudson, and Ben Affleck. We ve also shot interviews in paris with the nba interviewing Ahmad Rashad, coby white, and jokiem noah. It meant alot to me bc I got to travel, meet different stars and perfect my craft making monumental work

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For those who dont know, I started off as an artist and music producer. I went to college for art took up classes and learned video editing. From there I learned how to make videos whether music, green screen, or short sketches. I wound up doing freelance work then eventually got a job at BALLY SPORTS where I perfected editing from a network stand point. There was a big lay off in the industry and I continued my work with SCOOP B Radio where I still travel, interview and film people from all over. I’ve shot and edited interviews at ICE CUBES BIG3 basketball the last few years. Shot interviews with Spike Lee, John Salley, Byron Scott, James Worthy and countless other NBA and NFL players. Cedric the Entertainer, Rick Flair, Lil Durk and more music artists. For me its all about consistency and doing what I love to do. Editing takes time but if u love it it’s not work but ive been blessed to do some of the things I truly enjoy.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
How i met Brandon “SCOOP B” Robinson was i followed him on instagram bc I was into his work and his humor. He delivered sports news but had a funniness about him. I remember I left a comment on one of his post and months later he responded back to me and told me I was right a out it. It surprised me. I didnt think people who worked in the industry ever responded back but he did. From there I asked if he needed a video editor and we began to work together and from there built a bond and friendship and from there on weve been running ever since. The reason I mention this story is bc with life you never know. Take a chance and anything can happen but you have to work hard and practice on your craft and one day your dreams can come true especially when you connect with the right people.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Far as building an audience in social media you have to do research and you have to invest in yourself. Before the algorithm you could freely build your brand but they stopped alot of your engagement now. You can find the right hashtags as well but after a while they shut you down. I feel like the game is set up where they want u to pay them to really get any real movement but in my eyes alot of people views and comments are fake but I think some people need to build their hype up and do it but the choice is yours. Most importantly you have to believe in you or no one else will. Keep grinding and never give up.
