We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Terry Hord And Tamara Kahn Twinscoast2coast. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Terry Hord and Tamara Kahn below.
Terry Hord and Tamara Kahn, appreciate you joining us today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
Tamara and Terry’s parents, Cheryl and David Haber, taught them some of the most valuable lessons of their lives — lessons that shaped who they are today.
From their mother, Cheryl, they learned the power of kindness, empathy, and emotional strength. She modeled joy, honesty, and compassion every day, teaching her daughters to treat others with fairness, gratitude, and love. Cheryl’s warmth and unwavering belief in open communication built a foundation of trust and emotional awareness that continues to guide the twins in their advocacy and family life.
From their father, David, they learned resilience, discipline, and hard work. As a teacher and entrepreneur, he showed them what it meant to be determined and ambitious — to never give up, even when life felt unfair or overwhelming. Though his temperament sometimes brought challenges, they understood his drive came from love and responsibility. Over time, his strength and devotion became a lasting example of perseverance and loyalty.
Together, their parents’ greatest gift was showing Tamara and Terry the importance of love, family, and staying strong through every storm — lessons that continue to inspire everything they do through TwinsCoast2Coast.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Absolutely — here’s your beautifully polished, emotionally rich “About” section that includes every key element: Tamara’s cane story, your decades of advocacy, volunteering and content work, and your heartfelt family tributes. It’s written in a narrative tone suitable for a website, press feature, or organizational bio.

About Tamara & Terry — TwinsCoast2Coast
We’re Tamara Kahn and Terry Hord, identical twin sisters and co-founders of TwinsCoast2Coast, a movement born from strength, love, and the unwavering belief that even in life’s most difficult moments, you can still inspire others.
Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis more than 30 years ago, we were young, active mothers raising our children when the disease first began changing our lives. Today, as quadriplegics using 350-pound power wheelchairs, we often reflect on those early years like looking in a rearview mirror — grateful for the lessons, laughter, and the people who’ve helped us keep moving forward.
Tamara vividly remembers the day a woman stopped her in a parking lot, assuming she was drunk because she wobbled as she walked. That moment stung, but it also shifted her perspective. She decided to embrace mobility with pride — buying a beautiful cane and walking tall. Terry later followed, first using a walker, then scooters, and eventually power chairs. Together, we’ve learned that mobility aids don’t define weakness — they symbolize independence, courage, and grace.
Our advocacy journey has spanned thousands of hours of volunteering, attending national MS events, speaking on panels and roundtables, and producing our TwinsCoast2Coast Podcast and YouTube channel. We’ve partnered with organizations like the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA), where Tamara chairs the Women of Action Fashion Show in San Francisco, and Terry co-chairs the Atlanta event. Terry also serves on the Board of Trustees for the National MS Society of Georgia, the Shepherd Center Advocacy Board, and the Botanical Sciences Advisory Board — continuing to build bridges between medical innovation, patient advocacy, and hope.
We’ve both participated in MS medical studies, helping advance treatments for others. Terry was patient #004 in the original Tysabri trial in 2001 — a breakthrough that gave her years of remission and hope. These experiences, along with the support of our beloved medical teams, especially Dr. William Stuart, who treated Terry for over 30 years, remind us that medicine and compassion go hand in hand.
Our mission extends far beyond awareness. We advocate for accessibility, insurance reform, and financial support for vital mobility and home equipment that’s too often excluded from coverage. We work closely with nonprofits to ensure people with disabilities are seen, supported, and celebrated.
And none of this would be possible without our family — the heart of our journey. Our daughters — Rachael and Hannah Kahn, Allie and Cheryl Hord — are only three and a half years apart and have grown up like sisters. They’ve witnessed the good, the bad, and the heartbreaking realities of MS, yet emerged stronger, compassionate, and fierce. We are endlessly proud of them. To our father, David Haber, thank you for raising us after we lost our mom at just 24 years old. You’ve been our anchor, our strength, and our biggest supporter.
At its core, TwinsCoast2Coast is more than a platform — it’s a legacy of resilience, empathy, and love. We are living proof that even when the body changes, the human spirit can still rise, shine, and change the world.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Here’s a heartfelt, thoughtful answer you could use:
⸻
Question: Are there any books, videos, essays, or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Answer:
Yes — two stand out deeply for both inspiration and meaning: Tripping On Air by Ardra Shephard and The Way of the Warrior by Erwin Raphael McManus.
Ardra’s Tripping On Air captures the raw honesty, humor, and grit of living with multiple sclerosis while still living fully. Her voice reflects exactly what we strive to bring through TwinsCoast2Coast — authenticity, courage, and connection. She reminds us that transparency can be powerful leadership. As entrepreneurs and advocates, we learned from her that vulnerability is not weakness — it’s the foundation for trust and impact.
Erwin McManus’s The Way of the Warrior has shaped how we lead through both chaos and calm. His message about inner peace being the ultimate battlefield resonated with us as women living with MS and as leaders guiding others. True strength isn’t found in control or status — it’s found in purpose, discipline, and spiritual clarity.
We love these works because they mirror our lives — the constant balance between resilience and surrender, ambition and gratitude, struggle and grace. Together, they remind us that leadership is less about managing others and more about mastering one’s own spirit, serving with love, and transforming pain into purpose.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
At TwinsCoast2Coast, we believe that morale is not something you find — it’s something you build, moment by moment, through purpose, gratitude, and connection.
Living with multiple sclerosis for over 30 years has taught us that strength grows when you share it. We keep high morale by turning pain into purpose — volunteering, attending events, hosting our TwinsCoast2Coast podcast and YouTube channel, and showing others that even in the hardest seasons, you can still find meaning and joy.
We stay inspired by celebrating small victories — whether that’s getting out of bed, connecting with another patient, or using our voices to educate and motivate through MSAA and the National MS Society. Our daughters — Rachael, Hannah, Allie, and Cheryl — remind us daily that resilience is contagious, and that love, humor, and faith can carry you further than fear ever could.
Most of all, we remind others that you are not alone. High morale grows when people see possibility in your story — and that’s why we share ours every single day.
