We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cecille Wright. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cecille below.
Hi Cecille, thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Adapting to evolving fashion trends and consumer behavior is an ongoing challenge for any entrepreneur. During the COVID-19 pandemic, my business faced significant uncertainty, much like many others. Recognizing the rapid shift in lifestyle and consumer needs, I knew I had to innovate to stay relevant. When face masks became essential, a friend in the restaurant industry mentioned the inconvenience of constantly removing and misplacing masks. That conversation sparked an idea—I began experimenting with designs and developed a practical yet stylish face mask lanyard. Soon after, I introduced customizable versions for children, featuring their names, school colors, and designs that reflected their personalities. The product quickly gained traction, even earning a feature in the Houston Chronicle. This experience reinforced a key business lesson: adaptability and responsiveness to consumer behavior are not just advantages—they are vital for long-term success.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My career began in the fast-paced world of fashion — a dream come true when I landed a position as a buyer for a major corporation. But everything changed when I became a mother of two. Motherhood reshaped my priorities and made me long for a path that offered both creativity and flexibility, without sacrificing family life.
Jewelry making came into my life by happy accident. While helping my children upcycle old jewelry for an Earth Day school project, I discovered a newfound passion that reignited my creative spirit. What started as a simple activity quickly turned into a calling. I began designing and crafting pieces for myself, and soon my friends, neighbors, and family took notice. Their enthusiasm encouraged me to launch my own collection on Etsy, marking the beginning of my small business journey.
I describe my work as Perfectly Imperfect — a celebration of individuality and the natural beauty found in every stone. My designs are inspired by the mystical energy of crystals and gemstones, combining the elegance of fashion with the grounding essence of nature. Each piece is thoughtfully created with quality materials, character, and timeless style — jewelry that tells a story as unique as the person wearing it.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The jewelry industry continues to evolve with shifting trends, changing consumer lifestyles, and advancing technologies. Success in this field requires a foundation of resilience — the ability to adapt, stay open to change, and continuously innovate to remain relevant. That same spirit of adaptability has shaped my own journey. What began as a creative outlet soon grew into a thriving business, built on learning from challenges, embracing change, and finding new ways to connect with customers in an ever-changing market

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I’ve built my reputation on genuine connections with my customers. Every piece I create begins with listening — understanding their needs, stories, and style. I take pride in using authentic, high-quality materials to ensure each design not only looks beautiful but lasts. My jewelry is more than an accessory — it’s crafted with intention, care, and a piece of my heart in every detail
