We were lucky to catch up with Damien Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Damien, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
When God gave me the vision for God Light for the World Ministry, I didn’t have much more than faith and a desire to help others who were lost, broken, and searching for purpose like I once was. The idea came during one of the darkest seasons of my life—when I was rebuilding myself after jail and learning to trust God’s process.
At first, the vision felt too big for where I was. I didn’t have resources, a building, or a team—just a calling. But I realized that execution starts with obedience, not resources. So, I began where I was. I started ministering to people around me, sharing my testimony, and helping others see that no matter how far they’ve fallen, God can still raise them.
I spent long nights writing, praying, and planning how the ministry would serve others. The first real step was making it official, registering the ministry as a nonprofit organization. That process required research, paperwork, and patience, but it made the vision tangible.
From there, I focused on outreach—connecting with the community, donating books, and using my personal story to encourage people in prisons, shelters, and on the streets. Slowly, what began as an idea became a living mission.
Looking back, the key steps were:
Believing the vision even when no one else saw it
Starting with what I had—faith, words, and action
Building consistency through service
Making it official through proper registration
Letting God guide every move from there
That’s how God Light for the World Ministry went from an idea in my spirit to a real organization changing lives.

Damien, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
About Me & My Brand – God Light for the World Ministry Inc.
My name is Damien Davis, and I am the Founder of God Light for the World Ministry Inc., a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring transformation, healing, and purpose through the power of God’s light. My journey into ministry didn’t start from comfort or privilege—it was birthed out of pain, redemption, and a second chance at life.
After spending time in jail and overcoming years of hardship, I experienced a powerful encounter with God that changed everything. I went from living in survival mode to discovering a deeper spiritual calling—to help others find the same light that restored me. That moment was the seed that grew into God Light for the World Ministry.
Our mission is to reach people who feel forgotten, broken, or hopeless—whether they’re behind bars, living in shelters, or simply searching for meaning in their daily lives. We provide spiritual encouragement, donate faith-based books and resources, and create outreach programs that empower people to rebuild their lives from the ground up.
What sets us apart is that this ministry was built from real-life transformation, not theory. I’ve experienced the struggles that many of the people we serve continue to face. That authenticity allows us to connect heart-to-heart, not just through words, but through shared experiences.
In addition to the ministry, I’m also an author of From Jail to Jesus: The Day My Past Met My Purpose, a memoir that shares my journey from incarceration to inspiration. The book serves as both a testimony and a tool to help others realize that no matter where you come from, God can still use you to make a difference.
I’m most proud of seeing lives changed—when someone reads my book, hears my story, or receives our outreach and begins to believe in themselves again. That’s when I know God’s light is doing its work.
What I want people to know about me and God Light for the World Ministry is simple: we are living proof that purpose can rise from pain, and when you trust God’s process, you can build something beautiful from the ground up.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Managing a team, especially in ministry or any purpose-driven organization, starts with servant leadership. I believe that true leadership isn’t about control—it’s about example, compassion, and consistency. In the same way God extended grace and patience to me, I strive to extend that same grace to those who serve alongside me.
I’ve learned that high morale comes from purpose and appreciation. When people know why they’re doing something and see that their work has a real impact, they stay inspired. I make it a point to remind my team that what we do matters—that every act of service, every donation, and every word of encouragement can change a life.
Communication is also key. I keep open conversations with my team, celebrate their wins, and check in when someone seems off. Sometimes, maintaining high morale isn’t about big gestures—it’s about taking time to listen, pray together, and make sure everyone feels valued.
Lastly, I encourage rest and balance. Burnout can happen when people pour out without being poured into. So, I remind my team that taking care of themselves spiritually, mentally, and physically allows them to keep shining God’s light more effectively.
When you lead with love, humility, and faith, your team won’t just work for you—they’ll work with you toward a shared vision.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I first started building my social media presence, I didn’t have a big platform or a marketing plan—I just had a message and a mission. I started by sharing my personal story—how God turned my pain into purpose—and I spoke directly from the heart. I wasn’t trying to go viral or impress anyone. I was trying to reach someone who needed encouragement, healing, or hope.
At first, I only had a few likes and views, but I stayed consistent. I posted videos, faith-based messages, and behind-the-scenes moments of my journey—from writing my book From Jail to Jesus to launching God Light for the World Ministry. Over time, people started connecting with the authenticity of my message. They could see it wasn’t just content—it was ministry.
My biggest piece of advice for those starting is don’t chase followers—serve people. Speak from your truth, stay consistent, and let your content reflect your purpose. People are drawn to real stories, not perfection. If you stay true to your calling, your audience will grow naturally because your message will resonate with the right hearts.
Also, engage with your followers. Respond to comments, pray for people, and build genuine relationships. Social media isn’t just about numbers—it’s a community. And when you use it to spread light, encouragement, and authenticity, God will take care of the reach.
