Hi Jai, thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
I do think about what it would’ve been like if I started my business sooner. I officially launched Hair Vault Experience in 2022. I always knew I wanted to be my own boss, I just didn’t know exactly what that looked like at the time. After losing my son, I wanted to create something that was mine, something that gave me purpose again.
Looking back, starting sooner probably would’ve given me more time to learn and grow into the business owner I’m becoming now. But honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. I started exactly when I was supposed to. God makes no mistakes, everything happened in divine timing.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a 27-year-old hair business owner from Houston, Texas, and the CEO of Hair Vault Experience. I’ve always been “that girl” when it comes to hair. I’ve always been known for being polished, having my hair done, and always setting the tone wherever I go. That love for beauty and presentation naturally grew into something bigger.
I started researching hair vendors back in 2019, long before I even launched my brand. My goal was clear from the beginning: to create a luxury experience for women who love to look good, no matter their job title or background. I wanted every customer to feel confident, cared for, and like their order was made just for them. That’s how Hair Vault Experience was born, a brand built on quality, personalization, and trust.
What makes Hair Vault Experience special is that it’s not just about selling hair, it’s about creating an experience. From handwritten thank-you notes to behind-the-scenes videos and CEO-led tutorials, I make sure every customer feels personally connected. It’s a luxury brand with heart.
I’m incredibly proud of how far the brand has come and how much I’ve grown as a business owner. Building Hair Vault Experience from the ground up has taught me resilience, patience, and purpose.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I’ve read so many books over the years that have inspired me as a businesswoman, but one that really stuck with me is Secrets of Six-Figure Women. What stood out to me about that book was how every woman featured had one thing in common. They all knew they wanted more. They didn’t second guess themselves or play small. They trusted God, trusted their vision, and went after what they deserved with confidence.
That really shifted how I think as an entrepreneur. It reminded me that success starts with belief. Believing that you’re capable, worthy, and called for more. That mindset has been a big part of how I run my business and how I continue to grow personally and professionally.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When I first started Hair Vault Experience, I didn’t have investors or a big savings, it was all me. Once I started getting more orders, I realized I needed to reinvest back into my business so I could keep hair in stock, upgrade my packaging, and really market the brand the way I envisioned.
To make that happen, I started doing Instacart full-time. I’ve never really shared that before, but that’s how I funded a lot of my early business moves like photoshoots to custom packaging to inventory. It wasn’t glamorous, but it taught me discipline and made every milestone that much more meaningful.
Looking back, I’m proud of that grind. It showed me that when you really believe in your vision, you’ll do whatever it takes to bring it to life.
