We recently connected with Dashae Tuggle and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dashae thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Before I became a content creator, whenever I listened to other creators’ think pieces, I always felt like something was missing or that it could have been said differently. One day, I decided to take a chance and post my first video — it reached 30k views, and that’s when I knew I was on to something.
Three years later, I’ve remained consistent and now have 18k followers on Instagram and 17k on TikTok. I also earn income from YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok. I took a chance, stayed consistent, and now the hard work is paying off.
I know I still have a long way to go to reach where I want to be in this field, but I never would’ve imagined things turning out this well. I truly enjoy complex conversations, experiences, and perspectives.
In my content, I always try to give the full scoop of the story. Even if I don’t agree with a particular opinion, I can still understand and articulate that point of view. I strive not to be biased while still sharing my honest perspective based on the facts presented.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m originally from the South Side of Chicago and moved to Houston when I was 26 years old. I’m now 30 and have been creating content for three years. I started making content because I enjoy conversation and different perspectives — that’s what one of my channels is all about (and being a little messy, lol).
My other channel focuses on Black-owned businesses, mixed with daily life in a new city and my personal journey. I share information I don’t mind giving away and express viewpoints that others might not want to say, but I’m confident in what I believe and where I stand.
I’m most proud of hitting 1 million views three times based on my viewpoints alone — that felt amazing! I was also proud to use my content earnings to purchase my first Sony camera, and getting close to 20k followers has been another milestone I’m grateful for. I’ve worked hard and stayed consistent, and I can’t wait to see what milestone I’ll hit next.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part is connecting with people, engaging with my audience, and seeing the financial rewards that come with it.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Yes, I wish I had known more about the updates, the algorithm, and the Fair Use Act before I lost my first page at 8k followers, where I had built a great community — but now I know.
