We recently connected with Jamir Smith and have shared our conversation below.

Jamir, appreciate you joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.

I’ve learned what I do through a blend of curiosity, consistency, and immersion. Much of my growth has come from being deeply involved in the creative, retail, and media spaces—observing leaders, experimenting with my own ideas, and constantly seeking feedback. Every experience, from managing luxury retail teams to producing interviews and media content, has been part of a continuous learning process where strategy meets creativity.

Jamir, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m Jamir Smith—a media professional, storyteller, and creative entrepreneur based in Los Angeles. I wear several hats: I’m the creator and host of “The JamirSmithShow,” a podcast and live radio show that celebrates art, culture, fashion, and entrepreneurship; a retail leader in the luxury fashion industry; and the founder of “The JS Journal,” a quarterly publication highlighting experiences, events, and brand collaborations that inspire creativity and purpose.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?

To truly support artists and creatives, society must invest in access, education, and visibility. That means funding creative programs in schools, building community spaces for collaboration, and offering grants and mentorship opportunities that prioritize underrepresented voices. We also need to shift how we value creative work—seeing it not as a luxury, but as an essential part of culture and social progress. When artists are supported with resources, fair pay, and platforms to share their stories, creativity thrives—and so does the community around it.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My mission is to amplify authentic voices and celebrate creativity across art, fashion, and culture. Through my platforms—like The JamirSmithShow and The JS Journal—I aim to create meaningful conversations that inspire people to see the power in their own stories and pursue purpose with confidence. Every project I take on is rooted in connection, representation, and impact.
