We were lucky to catch up with Javon Talley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Javon , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers
As you know, I have a merchandise brand called Morningstar Ranch, which honors our family ranch and aims to keep the cowboy spirit alive. Creating original designs is one of the most challenging parts of making merchandise. Every piece of Morningstar Ranch gear is conceived and crafted by me—I’ve designed everything myself. However, I’ll admit that some of my designs are inspired by other artists, but they are never exact copies. Recently, I was checking online by googling our brand and ranch name when I discovered an exact replica of our R.A.M. shirt on someone else’s website. At first, I was flattered—it’s great to see that people love that design—but then I felt angry, knowing that someone had stolen my design and was potentially taking money from our supporters. This kind of theft not only harms my business but could also lead to negative reviews that impact our brand’s reputation.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Morningstar Ranch is more than just a merchandise brand — it’s a tribute to our family ranch and the cowboy spirit that built it. We started this line to keep that way of life alive and share it with people from all walks of life. Our products — graphic tees, hats, hoodies, and more — are designed to honor the cowboy heritage while creating a sense of unity and pride among those who wear them.
What I’m most proud of is how quickly the support has grown. Since we launched, we’ve connected with people from all over the world who share a love for the cowboy lifestyle and the values it represents — hard work, authenticity, and community.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about our next venture — launching Morningstar Ranch Coffee. We want to blend the best American-made coffee, something that captures the same rugged, down-to-earth spirit our brand stands for. It’s another way to bring people together, one cup at a time

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what’s helped me build my reputation is consistency and being genuine. I’ve always believed that staying true to who you are is the best way to connect with people. I know my personal beliefs and outlook might be different from others, but at the end of the day, we all share something in common — the desire to spread love and support one another. That mindset has really shaped how I run Morningstar Ranch. It’s not just about selling merchandise; it’s about building a community where people feel seen, appreciated, and inspired. I think that authenticity is what people connect with the most

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I like to keep in touch with our customers by making them feel truly seen and appreciated. One way I do that is by sending exclusive merchandise to our loyal supporters first — it’s my way of saying thank you and letting them know they’re part of the Morningstar Ranch family.
Of course, it’s always great when someone with a big following gives us a shout-out, but what really means the most to me are the everyday people — the ones out there grinding, chasing their dreams, and living that cowboy spirit in their own way. Those are the folks who inspire me, and that’s who I want Morningstar Ranch to represent
