We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Allie DeLaTorre a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Allie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you recount a time when the advice you provided to a client was really spot on?
One of the best pieces of advice I give clients right now is to stop trying to time the market. I know a lot of people feel like they “missed out” on those 3 to 4 percent interest rates, but they’re forgetting what came with that. Bidding wars, waived inspections, sellers refusing to make repairs, and a rushed process where buyers barely had time to think.
Today’s market looks different, and that’s not a bad thing. Buyers actually have leverage again. They can take their time, negotiate repairs or credits, and find a home that truly fits their life, not just one they won in a frenzy.
I recently worked with buyers who had been on the fence for over a year. Once they shifted their mindset and realized this market actually worked in their favor, they found a home they loved and negotiated $21,000 in seller credits, and the appraisal came in $45,000 above the contract price, something that wouldn’t have been possible in 2021.
I always tell my clients to buy when it’s right for them. The best time to buy isn’t when the headlines say so, it’s when your finances, lifestyle, and goals align. Right now, we’re seeing buyers regain the upper hand, but ultimately it comes down to what makes sense for you.

Allie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Allie DeLaTorre, a Denver-based Realtor who’s passionate about helping people feel confident and supported through one of the biggest decisions of their lives, finding a home.
I got into real estate because I’ve always loved connecting with people and guiding them through meaningful milestones. Over the past five years, I’ve helped everyone from first-time buyers to growing families to sellers ready for their next chapter. My favorite part of this career is watching that moment when clients realize, “this is the one,” and knowing I helped make it happen.
What sets me apart is my approach. I lead with honesty, strategy, and heart. I’m detailed and data-driven when it comes to pricing and negotiation, but I also bring calm and clarity to what can be a stressful process. I don’t just want my clients to close on a home. I want them to feel at peace with their decision and empowered throughout the journey.
More than anything, I hope people see me as a trusted guide who genuinely cares. Real estate, to me, isn’t about transactions; it’s about relationships, community, and helping people find a place that truly feels like home.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think my reputation has been built on consistency, communication, and care. From the beginning, I made it a priority to treat every client like they were my only one, whether it was a $300,000 condo or a $1 million home. I stay in close contact, anticipate questions before they come up, and make sure my clients feel informed and supported at every step.
A lot of my business has grown through word of mouth, and I believe that comes from genuinely showing up for people. I don’t chase transactions; I build relationships. I want my clients to know that even after closing, I’m still here, whether they need a contractor recommendation, a market update, or just someone to celebrate their homeownership wins with.
That long-term mindset and personal touch have helped me earn trust and repeat business, which means more to me than any sales number ever could.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A story that stands out for me is when I decided to leave my previous brokerage and completely rebrand my business. It was a big change after years of working under a well-known name, and it required me to trust myself, my vision, and the relationships I’d built over time.
Starting fresh meant rebuilding my marketing, refining my systems, and clearly defining what I wanted my business and client experience to feel like. It was a lot of work behind the scenes, but it reminded me that growth often comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone.
That transition reinforced my confidence as an independent professional and showed me how resilient I can be when I lead with purpose and authenticity. Looking back, it was one of the most empowering moves I’ve ever made, and it set the tone for the next chapter of my business.
