We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
My first job at 19 years old, was working at this woman’s clothing boutique. While working there, I fell in love with the idea of being able to help women feel their absolute best in the clothing at the store. The owner would leave me with her key and allow me to run her business for her when she wasn’t there. I soon realized that I developed such a passion for fashion and wanting to start my own boutique. I knew I wanted to also provide women with clothing that would allow them to feel their absolute best!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Ashley Michelle Johnson, CEO & Founder of Ayschel Boutique, an online women’s clothing boutique. My goal as a boutique owner is to make all women feel confident, elegant, and sexy in their own skin for any occasion. I offer an array of styles and accessories of all occasions. I fell in love with fashion at a very young age, but it wasn’t until my first job at 19 while working at a women’s clothing boutique that I realize I wanted to one day have my own. I took the leap of faith and started Ayschel Boutique in 2019.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Initially, when I first created Ayschel Boutique in 2019, business was slow. There were many times that I wouldn’t receive any sales and it was very discouraging, but I never gave up. I learned quickly how to pivot and focus on my branding, which always works!
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
At the time that I launched my boutique, I was working in Corporate America. I used my salary from my 9 to 5 to fund my business. I would save money from every paycheck and put aside strictly for my boutique.
