We recently connected with Jabubu and have shared our conversation below.
Jabubu, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Starting my rap journey as an 11 year old kid the first thing i did was learn how to rhyme and flow. Listening to an abundance of different songs and artists helped me learn my idols cadences as well as develop my own original sound. Next came song structure and learning how to write hooks. Writing a good memorable song is harder than people think it is but if you listen to enough music you kind of see the pattern in which people like to write and you can translate that to your own writing. next was stage presence and translating your music to live performances so that people really FEEL what you are showcasing to them. At the end of the day music is just finding a way to be the most entertaining person you can be.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was Born and raised in Providence Rhode island where creativity knows no bounds. I started Rapping at a young age because i had an obsession with rap music and it was also a way for me to introduce and connect with my peers. As years went on i kept writing and writing until i was eventually able to record myself on my computer. Eventually it became a way for me to entertain the public as well as let people get to know me through my music. Nowadays I’m usually doing Shows in my City as well as mentoring and collaborating with other artists on music. What sets me apart from other i think is my overall versatility and ways to keep you engaged with what I’m saying. One of my Most recent achievements was being featured on Sway Calloway’s youtube Channel after winning is national rap competition a few years back. Winning that competition felt like a true testament to my capabilities as a writer and dedication to put out the best work i can possibly muster.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The best thing society can do for artists is just show up. All artists want to do is reach out to as many new faces as they can and hope to gain new supporters at any given chance. If society made more of an effort to go out and discover new talents rather than wait until the rest of the world already knows about them, it can help speed up the process to help artists reach their goals. whether you’re a music artist, paint, sell skin products, clothes etc. The best thing society can do is just give you a chance.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me its the discovery of other arts. Had i not been a rap artist, i feel as though i wouldn’t have met the people I’ve met throughout my journey. Being apart of shows helped me discover other recording artists, Models, Painters, Fashion Designers, Producers and even more dope people around the world.
