We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Samantha Plomer – Swift a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Samantha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, folks often look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight – but that often obscures all the nitty, gritty details of everything that went into the growth phase of your business. We’d love to hear about your scaling story and how you scaled up?
I got my start in real estate when I was just 20 years old and still in college. I was working for a broker and doing apartment locating on the side, not really knowing it would turn into a lifelong career. I just loved helping people find a place to call home — even if it was just their first apartment.
After college, I moved back to Houston and decided to go out on my own as a solo agent. In those early days, I started working with some of the seasoned agents in my office who didn’t really want to deal with leases. I jumped right in, taking on all their lease clients. Before long, I became the go-to “lease person” in the office. It was a great way to build my business because a lot of those clients eventually came back to me when they were ready to buy. That’s really how my client base started to grow — one lease, one relationship at a time.
As my business grew, I ended up joining a new company and helping someone else build their team. I learned so much from that experience — how to lead, how to train, how to run a team — but after a while, I realized I missed just focusing on my clients. I decided I wanted to get back to being the best agent I could be, not necessarily managing others.
That’s when I joined The Krantz Luxe Group at Compass, and honestly, it’s been the best move of my career. We’re an all-women team made up of top-producing agents who truly support and empower each other. What I love most about our group is that we each run our own businesses, but we come together to create something even bigger. I always say, you become like the people you spend the most time with — and I’m so grateful that I get to spend mine with these amazing, driven women.
We’re super organized and efficient, with two licensed assistants and one virtual assistant (who I’ve actually known since high school!). Together, our team handles over 100 transactions a year and has been recognized as the #1 Compass team in Houston, making Houston Business Journal’s Top 10, RealTrends, and Compass’s Top 100 lists year after year.
Sometimes I look back and can’t believe how far I’ve come — from a college student doing apartment locating to being in this incredible place in my career more than a decade later. Now, at 32, I get to show my 2-year-old son that you can have a career you love and still be an amazing mom. It’s not always easy, but it’s so worth it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
If you told 20-year-old me — filming Facebook Live videos on my phone while trying to figure out real estate between college classes — that one day I’d be producing professional videos with a full team, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. But that’s exactly how this all started.
When I first got into real estate, I didn’t have fancy equipment or a big budget — I just had my phone, my energy, and a love for connecting with people. Over the years, that passion grew into something so much bigger. Today, every one of my listings gets a professionally produced video, and my team and I have built a strong brand around creativity, connection, and authenticity.
As my business grew, I realized I couldn’t do it all on my own, so I hired an amazing assistant to help with all the backend work, marketing, and client management. That was a total game-changer. I also started building my online presence — creating a social media and YouTube platform that now reaches over 20,000 people across Instagram and beyond.
One of the things I’m most proud of is creating #FieldTripFriday — a fun way to showcase new neighborhoods, local favorites, and hidden gems all over Houston. I’ve always believed that being active in your community and sharing the places you love is one of the best ways to grow your business authentically. It’s not just about selling homes — it’s about being a resource, a neighbor, and a familiar face people can trust.
If you follow me on social media, you’ve probably seen my #DrivingInHouston videos (because let’s be honest, Houston traffic deserves its own comedy series!). You’ll also catch plenty of behind-the-scenes moments — from me climbing onto roofs to jumping into pools — all in the name of getting my clients’ homes sold faster. My clients know that I’ll always go above and beyond to make their experience fun, smooth, and successful.
I also love helping sellers stage their homes to shine — I’m hands-on when it comes to presentation and staying ahead of trends. There’s nothing better than helping a client sell quickly and for top dollar.
Now, more than a decade into my career, I’m proud to say I’ve built not just a business, but a brand that reflects who I am — creative, hardworking, community-driven, and a little bit fearless. Whether it’s a property tour, a neighborhood feature, or a good laugh about Houston traffic, I want people to feel like they know me before they even meet me.
Because real estate, at the end of the day, is about relationships — and I’ve built mine one video, one client, and one community connection at a time.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
But beyond the videos and the social media presence, what really builds brand loyalty for me is staying in front of my clients and doing it in personal, meaningful ways. Every month, I send out postcards that people actually want to keep, usually with a recipe, tip, or something fun for their fridge. It always makes me smile when clients message me about their favorite ones.
I know a lot of agents have stopped doing mailers since everything is digital now, but I still believe in the power of that personal touch. I also love doing annual client gifts just to show my appreciation. Early in my career, my mom and I even handmade and personally delivered Thanksgiving pies to every client; one year, we made over 30 pies! I’ll never forget how much fun (and chaos!) that was.
I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without my parents. They’ve supported me every step of the way and to this day, they still tell everyone they meet that I’m a real estate agent. That kind of love and encouragement is what drives me to always show up for my clients with the same care and enthusiasm.
Because at the end of the day, my brand isn’t just about houses, it’s about people, relationships, and gratitude. Whether I’m making a video, sending a postcard, or handing out pies, it all comes back to the same thing: staying connected and showing people I truly care.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I was born and raised in Katy, Texas, and I’m proud to call this community home. I went to Katy High School, where I was on the drill team, and my family has lived here for decades — we’ve built lifelong relationships that mean the world to me. This town shaped who I am, and it’s also the reason I’ve been able to build such a strong reputation in the local market.
People know that I’m not just selling in Katy and Houston, I live here, I love it here, and I’m invested in this community for life. I’ve even become great friends with our mayor, which just shows how close-knit and connected this city really is!
