We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Horace Barnett. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Horace below.
Horace , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar your firm earns is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
Starting out as a photographer, I used to walk the street and approaches businesses and anyone I came in contact with on. I remember gave a gentleman my business card that I made and printed, I did not even explain to him that I am a photographer because he was so tired coming from work.
A few months I got an email from a gentleman, telling me that I gave him my business card and that he is planning a getting and wanted for me to do his wedding. We set up date to meet and discuss the wedding details, I was a bit nervous as the date drew closer, but with the help of researched YouTube videos and my with accompanied me, the bride and groom was satisfied with their photos..

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, my name is Horace, I am a man if God, a husband, a father of a beautiful daughter. I am a no nonsense, people person. I love to give encouragement and allow people to feel comfortable and be themselves. I would say that I have a creative eye and lover of all things natural, so with my personality when I was thinking of a second income, photography came to mind. I did acted on the idea, got a beginner camera as gift from my mom and that’s where my photography journey had begun after taking pictures of friends and family then I starting to get exposed. I started out as a wedding photographer and now I am doing photoshoots as well..
I coach my clients the moment they reach out to me up until after I deliver their work (photos), I meet clients where they are: financially, inexperience etc My may styles are vintage and rustic.
I came up with poses and color schemes for my clients.. my photography business name is ‘ honimedia’

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
One of the most effective strategy for growing my clientele, is that I often reached out to individuals on social media; introduce myself and offer a photoshoot at no cost.then I used those photos to promote myself and tagged people.

How’d you meet your business partner?
How I met my business partner is very simple and easy:) she’s my wife. We actually started together whereas she is the videographer while I am the photographer.
