We recently connected with Jacob McMahan and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacob, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Back in high school, I was deeply involved in online community management — everything from large focus-based groups to professional E-Sports teams. I discovered early on that I had a knack for communication, writing, and design, as well as the confidence to lead and speak in front of others. What started as a hobby gradually became a professional passion.
My first real opportunity came when I was hired as a Social Media Manager for a professional E-Sports team. I oversaw what was published, managed brand voice, and eventually expanded into contract writing and onboarding new members. That experience led to a new position as Director of Public Relations for another team, where I handled vendor contracts, partnerships, and led the social media department. Those years taught me how to shape public image, manage brand relationships, and communicate strategically — even under pressure.
After high school, I shifted focus to work and college, studying engineering, but I never lost my passion for marketing and community engagement. I started helping manage local event pages — like car shows and fundraisers — using my background to boost attendance and awareness. Seeing those events exceed expectations reignited my excitement for branding and promotion.
Earlier this year, several people approached me for help managing their business marketing, and that’s when the idea clicked: instead of working for others, why not create something of my own? That led to the launch of JM Brand Solutions LLC, a marketing agency dedicated to helping small businesses master digital marketing — whether through full-service management or one-on-one mentorship.

My name is Jacob McMahan, and I’m the founder of JM Brand Solutions LLC, a digital marketing agency built to help small businesses grow, connect, and thrive online. My journey into marketing wasn’t something I planned from the start — it came naturally over time.

Those successes reminded me that this was something I was not only skilled at, but genuinely passionate about.

That personal approach has built trust and long-term relationships — many of my clients come from word-of-mouth referrals. I also stay transparent and involved throughout the process, making sure clients feel supported and informed. In an industry where communication often feels transactional, I think being approachable and truly invested in each client’s success is what’s helped JM Brand Solutions stand out.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
My biggest piece of advice is to lead with communication and respect. People work best when they feel heard, valued, and trusted — not micromanaged. I make it a priority to check in regularly, celebrate small wins, and make sure everyone understands how their role contributes to the bigger picture.
It’s also important to create an environment where feedback flows both ways. When your team knows they can speak openly — whether it’s about new ideas or challenges — it builds confidence and unity. Morale comes from that sense of purpose and inclusion.
Lastly, I believe in leading by example. If your team sees you working hard, staying positive, and treating others with respect, they’ll mirror that energy. People don’t follow titles — they follow consistency and authenticity.
