Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anthony Collincini. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Anthony, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with idea for The Mindset Gazette.
Writing has always been an outlet of mine. The best way I knew to express myself during certain periods throughout my life was putting pen to paper. It started with song lyrics and poems at a young age, and cultivated into creative writing, which led to a book I am currently working on about the power of mindset and perspective pertaining to future achievement and fulfillment.
I have always enjoyed writing about different avenues of the human experience, and the way in which changing our perspectives can literally change our lives. Clearly, this topic is very niche, and not commonly found in many online media forums or publications. I’ve had a couple of articles published online, yet no medium seemed to fully fit my style of creative mindset writing. That’s when the idea for The Mindset Gazette came to me. I thought to myself, since I don’t know of any other mediums focusing on this specific niche, why not create my own in hopes of changing others’ belief in what they are actually capable of.
The name “Mindset Gazette” seemed to be catchy, and the domain was available, so off we went. I started creating the website and enjoyed pairing artistic photography with each article, in hopes of strengthening its core message with visuals. We’ve featured some very talented artists and writers in the first edition, and look forward to collaborating with many more in the future. Instead of doing quarterly editions, moving forward we will now be releasing 1 article at a time on a more frequent basis. We hope to allow the audience time to absorb the information by not bombarding them with multiple articles all at once, yet still aim to provide a steady flow of content designed to help our readers upgrade their perspective, ultimately leading to upgrading their lives.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Anthony Collincini, and for as long as I can remember I have been infatuated with combining artistic expression with business and entrepreneurialism. Ambition has always led me to being involved in many different creative, and business projects over the years.
I graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. From there I’ve interned at Virgin records in NYC, been involved in multiple startups, dabbled in real estate and photography, independently operated as a financial consultant and broker within the financial industry, and am the Founder of The Mindset Gazette. Being involved in so many different arenas of business and art, while having a wife and 2 kids under 3 at home, has forced me to become extremely efficient with time management. This has led to some of my most productive work being created in the early morning hours, or late nights. Attempting to balance it all can be difficult at times, but the goal has always been to have both my personal and business lives so intertwined, that everything flows seamlessly together. This has produced my philosophy, which focuses on the importance of changing your perception in order to change your life.
My goal is to give back and help others whose current position in life right now, is where I was 10 years ago. I know that entrepreneur who feels like their destined for something more in this life, yet haven’t identified exactly what that “something more” is. They know deep down inside that they have so many gifts to offer this world, yet their path ahead isn’t entirely clear. I know that entrepreneur intimately, because I was, and at the core, still am that entrepreneur. I wish I had access to this type of material when I was coming of age. It has taken countless years of trial and error to form the mindset and perspective I have today, and could only imagine how much farther along I’d be on my life’s path, had I started amercing myself in this type of content in my earlier years.
The Gazette aspires to help that self-driven entrepreneur who knows their destined for something great, yet wasn’t necessarily blessed with the monetary means or mindset conducive to helping them achieve their dreams. That is who I am speaking to, and they know who they are. I hope to help the up-and-coming generation of entrepreneurs progress a bit quicker down their respective paths with the tools and techniques available to them today, than I did down mine. Transforming people’s perception to help them achieve whatever it is they want out of life! That is our mission, and true passion at its core.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
From childhood, our perception of how life works is continually being formed by everything around us. What’s considered “the norm” and “status quo” can certainly change over the years, however, the notion throughout society that “things should be done a certain way”, has always been present in one form or another. When I was growing up, those predisposed, cultural beliefs were:
1. You go to college and get a 4 year degree
2. Find a steady 9 to 5 job with good benefits
3. Get married
4. Have kids
5. Retire at 65
Anything outside of that was considered risky and irresponsible.
I believe some of those norms have changed in today’s day and age, but some of them are certainly still prevalent.
I had to UNLEARN all of the limitations my mind put on me from my earlier years. I had to eliminate the belief that being “financially well off” was only for a select group of people. I don’t have to work a 9 to 5 job that doesn’t fulfill me, for the next 40 to 50 years. I don’t have to wait until age 65 to retire, and then barely exist on a limited income or pension.
I had to change my perspective to believe that owning a business, and being able to do work I am passionate about, was no longer an anomaly, but my expectation. Life is to be experienced, celebrated, and cherished for all that it has to offer. Every person in this world has the ability to control their own trajectory, and go after whatever it is they want out of life. We don’t have to live for weekends and holidays. We can live any way we choose to, if we have the right perspective.
Does this mean we don’t have to put in the necessary effort and energy needed to achieve our goals? Can we just immediately begin living our ideal life without building our foundation for success first? Of course not! If there’s anything you want bad enough, you will have to earn it. My point here is, don’t be afraid to take risks, or go against what’s considered conventional in today’s society. Going against the norm, is when the truly remarkable is achieved. You’ll never reach greatness by doing the exact same thing as everyone else. If all you do is the status quo, then your results will certainly reflect that.
When you UNLEARN all of the preconceived notions this world has placed on you, it will become extremely apparent that anything you want is possible. You just have to identify the next most manageable step forward toward achieving that goal, and then take it! If you continue that process consistently and never give up, then success and fulfillment are just about inevitable.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Creating anything and putting it out into the world, is what I live for. It’s almost like bearing your sole for the world to see. This can be both invigorating, as well as extremely stressful.
Creativity is an outlet for me. It’s a way for me to release all of these thoughts, ideas, and emotions that I have bottled up deep inside. There is an amazing feeling of accomplishment when finishing a written piece, recording a song, or capturing an amazing photo. Once that piece of art is released though, you are now subject to the judgement, criticisms, and ridicule of others. Those judgements can certainly make you feel uneasy at times, or cause you to 2nd guess your work. But at the heart of it all, you created something from nothing. A piece of art that originated within your own mind, and will live on in this world. Noone can take that away from you. That’s why I love art so much! There’s no better feeling than creating something new!
